Icons are the road signs of the computer desktop, helping computer users navigate an often-confusing maze of applications and shortcuts. This program is aimed at helping designers create graceful icons, but it falls short of rivals in several respects. The interface and toolbox look much like the Paint program that is included with Windows, offering only basic tools such as pen, fill, brush, and text, along with a few effects.

The program allows users to convert image files into the ICO format, but can't extract images from executable files as do other programs of this type. On the whole, ZNsoft Icon Maker provides a foundation for making well-designed icons, but lacks the broader feature set most professionals will require.

i have tried 5 times..yes FIVE times to download this ZN Soft icon maker. It downloads VERY quickly....up to a point. BUT i assume because i declined the toolbar..i am NOT allowed to get the complete download.With prepaid internet i can assure you it cost me a fortune all for nothing. Try and download it yourself. I guarrantee you will get as far as download 3 out of 4...the 4 will NEVER be reached.

I didn't get far enough to find anything to like, I'm sorry.

I requested installation in English, yet it came up in French. The language switch doesn't convert pop-up titles.Big quality loss at picture import. Menu items pop up wrong. Click results don't always match (cursor problem). Need I go on?

Summary
Unless you're already fluent in graphic design and drawing programs, this software will be of little help. Used in conjunction with a simpler icon conversion interface, it could be helpful for those with the time and energy to browse and learn the various drawing options. However, if you're looking for an off-the-shelf intuitive icon program with a farily short learning curve, this is not the program for you. On the plus side, the price is right......

Very Good in importing pictures and converting it to icon.
Cons
NOT Good at resizing the icon like 16x12, the picture has been resize but the white page still 32x32, so when you save it the size of your icon is still 32x32.

From the menu Affichage, select the Langue then click English. Only pro that I found is like I said above, being able to import .jpg's from photoshop. I wouldn't use it to create an icon at all. The pencil tool is so twitchy.
Cons
Default language in French. It can be changed but the sub-menu is still French. Interface and tools looks like it was lifted outta Windows NT. Program as a whole is a little buggy.
Summary
Bottom line is that it works great to convert your image files to an ICO file. Other than that there is no use for it. 3/5*s
