If you need a more robust file browsing software than Windows Explorer, Xplorer2 Lite might be worth a download.

Pros

Tabbed navigation: Xplorer2 allows you to set up tabs, which can greatly speed up file navigation, as well as unify your file management workflow.

Highly customizable: Xplorer2 gives you the option for customizing the interface, so it is laid out exactly how you want it. You can also customize the type of file data displayed, so that it's relevant to your task.

Cons

Non-unified design: When you work in a Windows ecosystem, Windows Explorer is part of the overall design of that system. It fits stylistically with everything else you're going to do from that PC. Although similar, the design sensibility in Xplorer2 is not the same as that used in Windows.

Help not included: When you try to access the help, the software lets you know that it is in a PDF that needs to be downloaded separately. This should have been included in the initial download.

Bottom Line

If you're unhappy with Windows Explorer, then Xplorer2 could be for you. For those who like complete control over file management, this software offers it.

Pros
Bookmarks to quickly browse to your commonly used or deeply buried folders. Dual pane, set one pane as the destination, browse in the other for files to copy/move there. Much easier than what most people do with Windows Explorer -- browsing up and down their file tree. Use Alt-leftarrow and Alt-rightarrow to browse along your history in the pane. Backspace to browse to the parent folder. Type a folder name or use arrow keys. Select a bunch of files, Edit -> Copy Names. Puts full file name of each file in the clipboard. Works with TortoiseSVN, when you are in a "working copy" of your source code version control system, Xplorer2 shows different icons next to files based on their SVN status. Portable version works off a thumb drive, no installation needed. Can have multiple tabs in a single pane, browse to your favorite location for each tab, and save the current program state. Open the program again and all those locations are showing.
Cons
Too many features for most people. (So, ignore the features you don't use, make a cheat sheet for the features you rarely use. The features you use every day, such as copy or move, have standard Windows commands or single keystroke.) Some commands aren't grouped sensibly, for example "Actions -> New File" instead of more common "Edit -> New File" or "File -> New File"
Summary
For a programmer, web site developer, technical user, Xplorer2 Lite has features that make managing files much easier. For non-technical users who have a lot of files to manage, Xplorer2 Lite makes the task much easier than Windows Explorer.

I really appreciate tools to simplify my life working on Microsoft Windows. I use zabkat xplorer2 for years and, compared with other similar tools in the market, I don't know any other that can be so simple and intuitive to use and, at the same time, so powerful in features and customizations.
Cons
Users need to really know how Microsoft Windows works to avoid limitations to work with lots of data using xplorer2 (like huge backups, for example).

Too many attached programs downloaded that I had to take time to remove from my computer. But in the end, I wasted my time - spent about an hour trying to copy some directories to a backup drive and had limited success. Most of the time it stopped working and closed all my windows - the exact issue I was trying to overcome by using Xplorer2. I uninstalled it and searched for a better program.

The Cnet download is full of spyware such as WhiteSmoke. Shame on Cnet. The Lite version of Xplorer2 does not even have a search feature (launches Windows Explorer search).
Summary
Xplorer2 Lite use to be great but now they cripple it so you will buy the full version which is just over priced. FreeCommander is working for me now. I would buy Xplorer if the price was about half of what it is now.
Do not download - full of malware and crapware.

I think the program might be OK if not infected.

I got to spend 2 minutes looking at the program and the last 2 hours getting rid of the crapware and malware it loaded on my computer and browsers.

None--nothing at all.
Cons
Three applications without opt-out capability landed on my system while installing this crummy software. The install procedure also changed my browser home page defaults. The search capability is just the usual hard-to-use Windows engine. Many of the advertised features don't work on the paid version.
Summary
Download this at your own risk--it will take you three minutes to download it and 30 minutes to fix the damage.

loads malware/spyware against your permission. "Coupon" companion" pops advertising on your web pages - toolbars and other programs install even when removing the checkmark total scam product AVOID

Summary
I am sure I haven't touched much of the function/capability. Maybe I haven't pushed it enough to 'break it'. What I have used is great. Well designed and intuitive. Bravo! I do see there are many goodies in the paid only version...but what I got for free was worth every cent I paid (I did send a small contribution).

This is just another false-free program that really is just a deactivated version of the PRO version, pushing you to buy with every opportunity.
Summary
There are "(P)" next to over 50 different functions, indicating that you need the PRO version to access that feature. There are so many of them that I have never seen that many in 2 programs! As you try to go and start using this product, you find that you run into the (P) barrier all the time, so I'm just uninstalling this for something that is actually free, rather than a big "in your face" BUY PRO VERSION, because I just can't stand that it's so conspicuous everywhere!!! Horrible way to sell your product! It's way too pushy and rude.
