WebLog Expert is a feature-rich Web server log analyzer. It will give you information about your site's visitors: activity statistics, file access statistics, paths through the site, information about referring pages, search engines, browsers, operating systems, errors. Flexible filters will help you perform comprehensive research. The program generates HTML-based reports with tables and charts. WebLog Expert supports log files of Apache and IIS servers and can read GZ and ZIP compressed logs. It can also download logs via FTP and HTTP, upload reports via FTP, or send them via e-mail. Other features include the multithreaded DNS lookup, built-in scheduler, IP to country mapping, tracked files reports, creating PDF and CSV reports.

Simple to use, easy to read, extensive in analysis.

Pros
I like the depth of statistical analysis. I am able to see: Top visited pages, Top referrers, top search phrases, where they are entering, and where they are coming. There is much more which helps me analyze me marketing efforts.
Cons
Understanding this is a free product, I still do wish there was exit page information available.
Summary
Simplicity of use is my number one concern. Second is amount of detail provided. This product does a fantastic job in both areas. I have examined other free products. They are fail on one or both of my requirements. I do also use Google Analytics, but find it to fail on ease of use and its accuracy. Because I am able to use my weblog through Weblog Expert, the information I receive is far superior to Google Analytics.

Pros
This product is highly adaptable so I can get just the stats I want. It allows me to run reports on different domains without the need for an additional license. Reports look professional, offering graphs of data along with charts. Great support.
Cons
Log files must be downloaded to computer before they can be analyzed.
Summary
This is an excellent product, I would highly recommend it.
Stable log analyzer handles also big > 4GB logs without crash.

Pros
We have tested for our company 6 windows based log analysers. <p>5 of them them could not deal with the size of our logs (> 2 gigs) or where unstable (crashing) because they were buffering in memory causing swapping. We have tested this product with logsizes also > 4 Gigabytes. Still worked fine and fast. <p>We used 3 days for choosing an analyser (installing, testing). If you want to save the testing time use this.
Cons
The most detailed view on activity is per hour only. But to see Problems or peaks in serverload a more detailed timeline (minute even seconds) are needed. But no other analyzer we tested has this feature, either. <p> <p>I would like it if the engineers if weblog expert would add this feature too.

Pros
This software is very simple to setup, use, and understand. The reports are generated very fast. The company also have very great customer support. I emailed them and within an hour had the right answer the first time!!!

Pros
This program does exactly what it says it will do. I had it downloaded and installed in a matter of minutes and it took no time at all to figure out how to get it to analyze my IIS log files. My company has a dedicated web server that is hosted off-site and it was simple to set up the HTML reports to be saved to a folder that was setup as an IIS website. The reports that are generated satisfy all of our needs, and the low price made it a no brainer.
Cons
I haven't really found anything that I don't like about the product. Let's face it, web log analysis isn't very exciting and this program keeps me from having to spend a lot of time dealing with it.

<b>Reasons why I like WebLog Expert 3.1:</b> - this program definately works as advertised. I gave it a full test and could not find any faulty features. I notice this latest version spent a few months in beta so i am not surprised that the release is "flat". - does not include bulky apache web server, mysql database, odbc drivers, etc that is forced on you with some other products. In fact the download is substantially smaller (1.5 megs versus other product being >150 megs). I was first concerned about this smaller size, but no longer. I see each feature has been well thought out with a keen eye on keeping sizes to reasonable limits. I like the fact that this product does not use proprietary storage formats and lets me keep my log files exactly as they were created by the web server. This is very reassuring so that I can ensure my data can still be used potentially with a different product in the future. - I like very much that the reports include all the current Operating Systems, Search Engines, Etc. Plus it looks like this can be extended in the future via config files; although, with free upgrades for like this isnÂ’t really a problem. - Has nice single page report format option with full control over types of reports and graphs and number of items to show. It is very nice to allow me to include only the information important for my site. The single file option is great for printing hard copies. - Email feature zips files with nice compression (700 KB content is compressed to 75 KB) - Automatic Scheduler works very nicely with ability to run each item with custom Time parameters. Log viewer is very nice to track problems. - I also like that I can merge log files from my various mirror sites so that I get one nice, succinct report. <b>Potential Improvements:</b> - I think that for the single page html format the CSS should be inline (embedded into the html file). This is so that if I open the zip file and just click on the one html file I would like to see the information (images wonÂ’t show this way but that is okay) for quick viewing. Right now all the data shows with dark text on a black background so I canÂ’t read it unless I use my mouse to select the entire report. (Then the video is reversed and I can see it). - I think that for macro field %ProfileName% this should be replaced with Schedule Event Name IFF running using the scheduler. I also think that you should enable your date macro variables so they work in the report title. - Minor improvement that would be appreciated is to include a Time Event of Last Day Of The Month. - There is some help content that can be found by pressing the Â“HelpÂ” button on various dialog screens, but this information is not available when just using the help files Â“ContentsÂ” tree list. I think the help file Â“ContentsÂ” tree should be updated so I can read all the information without needing to find all the Â“HelpÂ” buttons. (Examples: Â“Task PropertiesÂ” and Â“Mail ContentsÂ” pages). - It would be nice to have a feature to delete cached log files before running a report. For now I just had to make dos bat file to do this and use WebLog Experts handy Â“run beforeÂ” feature. (tip: donÂ’t put the dos bat file in the cache folder as it will get deleted automatically). - The email feature works great, but it would be good if there were some improvements so that I could use SMTP servers that require domain/user name/password authentication. This is a trend these days with all the spam floating around. For now I just had to send to my local mail server which relayed to the more secure one.
