Used VMPC Data Security for Windows?
Editors’ Review
Encrypting files isn't a complex process, but you wouldn't know it with this program's cluttered interface and unnecessary convoluted approach. VMPC Data Security's initial interface is packed with options, and each has its own shortcut. Unfortunately, the shortcuts are a bit cryptic as they don't use conventional abbreviations. Still, the shortcuts won't simplify this program's complex process.
The only simple thing about VMPC Data Security is selecting files to encrypt. After that, you'll have to face the Key Generation Module, which is even more cluttered than the main interface. You'll be hard-pressed to figure out how to get started to password protect your selected files. Testers choosing the Key 1 field as a logical place to start found the program unresponsive. Instead, they discovered users must head to a row of buttons and choose to generate an encryption key, enter it, or load a previously saved key. Even after just creating the key, users are forced to enter it in the next step. It's only a slight exaggeration to complain that sending sensitive data via Morse code could be quicker than this program's process.
VMPC Data Security doesn't have more options than other encryption programs, it's just harder to use than most. It may be freeware, but you will pay in time and energy. Regardless of skill level, we strongly suggest you skip this program to find a more easy-to-use encryption app.
