Vaccinations App E-Passport for Android

The Weatherbys Vaccination App interrogates data pre-raceday on one centralised digital platform, with direct data connectivity to the Passport Issuing Organisation (Weatherbys), the BHA, Horse Racing Ireland and the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board.

An electronic archive system captures and indexes all historical vaccination data. This cost neutral industry system can provide the regulatory body with a geographical overview of the vaccination status of all horses, not only horses in training but also breeding stock, horses at sales and horses out of training, thereby creating greater biosecurity standards across Britain and Ireland.

Ensuring that Thoroughbreds are not exposed to unvaccinated horses on the racecourse is a key part of protecting equine welfare. Maintaining accurate, up-to-date electronic records of vaccination dates of horses in training could allow entries to race being conditional on horses being correctly vaccinated. Less time spent by Veterinary Officers (VOs) manually checking vaccinations on raceday will allow time to carry out other veterinary duties related to equine welfare (eg. pre-race checks). The application will also be able to assist with identifying risk of spread in the event of another Equine Influenza outbreak, and aid informed communications with participants.
