This piece of freeware can tell you how quickly you type, but it's far from a full-blown tutor. The simple, poorly designed interface includes a keyboard with both English and Russian symbols. A colored graph tells you how quickly you're typing, and after you're done, you can view and print detailed statistics for each finger. One problem is the program's failure to ding users for incorrect spelling and missed keystrokes; another is that the actual keys don't light up in the normal mode. The training option seems very buggy, doesn't produce any reports, and since the program lacks a help file, there's no way to know what that feature is supposed to do. Type Speed may be of some assistance for those who are curious about how fast they can key, but folks who actually want to improve their typing skills need not apply.

Pros
This program will only tell me how fast I can type.
Cons
The interface is very poor and it will not teach me how to be a quicker and more accurate typist.

Type Speed will not ding for incorrect spelling and missed keystrokes it also lacks a help file. The training option is buggy and doesn't produce any reports. So the bottom line is this program will only show how fast you can type but will not improve your typing skills to make you a faster typer.
