In our tests, this app proved to be a simple and handy utility for merging various types of files. The software is organized in a convenient fashion that makes sense almost instantly, though we were perplexed by the lack of a full-screen view. In the left pane, you choose whether to join MP3s, MPEGs, text files, Word documents, or other files, though the developer won't guarantee success when merging the latter option. After adding your chosen files to the right-hand window, you simply click the Merge icon to generate results in seconds. You can use the program's List function to merge files in batches if you're in a hurry or you have a big job to do. Though it's a fairly simple program without any bells or whistles, Twins File Merger does its main job well, making it a worthy pick for anyone who routinely needs to consolidate files.
What’s new in version 3.86
Version 3.86 improves speed and stability, includes some user interface changes.
Impossible to test product, trial version only allows merging of two files which is useless. Not paying $19.95 until I know it does what I want it to do.
Summary
Has Major Bug

Pros
Cons
When merging text files, the program removes text at the end of long lines if (and only if) the user chooses to strip lines from the beginning of the files. This makes the program utterly useless for merging text files with large line lengths that also contain header lines.
Summary
Merges quickly, but doesn't track total playtime
schai
Pros
Works quickly. Fairly easy to use.`
Cons
DOES NOT keep track of the TOTAL PLAYING TIME for merged MP3 files. I wanted it for reducing the total number of files in audio books, which can number 200 to 800. When merging several MP3 files, the output file has all of the sound information, but the listed total time is copied from the first file. When playing back the file, you can't fast forward or skip beyond the first file. Also, it runs in a fairly small window that CAN'T be maximized OR Stretched.

<p>MP3 Joiner by Pistonsoft does the same things, but much better for the same price.

<p>I am disputing the charge from Twins on my credit card.

Excellent, quick program

Pros
I tried 3 other downloads before getting to Twins. Twins was soooo much faster than the others. A 12-minute final length mp3 was joined in less than 5 seconds. Twins kept the same kbps rate as the original, and had no option for output rate (I think the reason is because Twins did not scan the whole file in, process it, and then wrote an output -- it must simply take the two pieces and actually join them together, removing the end-code of the first and the start-code of the second -- thus no ouput rate change was needed).
<p>Twins also was glitch-free, even at the junction of the mp3s. Twins supports drag-and-drop from Windows Explorer. Twins also merges mpegs, text and Word .doc files (I can't imagine why someone would use the last 2, but it's there if you want it).
<p>In comparison, MediaJoin was glitch-free and supported drag-and-drop, but did not save artwork and stopped working after the first day (I tried repair and reinstalls before moving on). MP3 Cutter Joiner and Focus MP3 Recorder Pro both added glitches to the output file, did not support drag-and-drop and did not save artwork. All three other programs processed each mp3 one-at-a-time, averaging about 90 seconds to do what took Twins less than 5 seconds. The others give you file saving options like mp3 to wav and mp3 at different bitrates because they change the basic file).
<p>Twins offers lifetime upgrades, so don't worry about waiting for revision 4.0 to come out. I e-mailed the Twins once, and they gave me a personal reply. They are just a couple of dudes and I hope they can add the following functionality to their program before moving on (like so many websites in the past have done):
Cons
In the future, I would like Twins to be able to trim the sponsor tags at the beginning and end of sample mpegs before pasting the pieces together. Hopefully the Twins add that in the future.

Summary
Product trial is too crippled to test and crashes repeatedly.

Pros
Easy to read file list.
Cons
Trial version only allows 2 files to be merged at one time. In my opinion, this does not allow a user to test the product before buying it. At least if you want to merge a lot of bits and pieces stored in separate files. When I tried to merge just 2 files, the program bombed with a “could not create object” error. It had an anonymous error reporting feature, and I sent the bug report. I tried several more times to merge two files and it bombed every time. Then I gave up. This product was a waste of my time and effort.

Sweet! Does what it sez it will! Thanks...
