If you're tired of that old cell phone ring and ready to make yourself a Radiohead or Beyonce ringtone, ToneThis is a fair starting point. The freeware application has the muscle to make ringtones (or the higher-quality true tones), video ringtones, or wallpaper out of files in your collection, and send them to your phone or to a friend. It's also dead-easy to operate, letting you select a small segment of a song or video to turn into a ringtone, or crop an image to fit your cell phone's interface. Once selected, the ringtone or image is uploaded to the cell phone carrier, and then downloaded to the phone. You'll also be able to search Flickr from the ToneThis interface for free, legal images to use as wallpaper.

An optional Firefox toolbar, new in version 3.6, helps you cut out the fuss of downloading legal media from the Internet by sending media directly to ToneThis for editing and processing. At least in theory. Our success rate was so variable, we'd almost recommend opting out of its installation entirely, at least until ToneThis' developers can iron out the kinks.

Despite these obvious snags, ToneThis's simpler settings compared with other ringtone software makes it a good fit for novices, and therefore a worthy download. After seeing the toolbar deliver its promised functionality, we'd like to see a few more features, especially more controls for exacting ringtone-length. ToneThis is supported by advertising, but no nagging pop-up ads. To rid yourself of ads and to get advanced betas and premium ringtones and mobile games, a pro version can be procured for $20. ToneThis works with specific carriers, countries, and phone models--it's wise to check the Web site before installing to make sure your phone is supported.

Pros
Was able to make ringtones that I liked and send them to my Android phone.
Cons
Not very user friendly, but if you spend enough time, you can make ringtones. But then the phone can't recognize the ringtones as ringtones! They came in attached to texts and I can play them but not save them-so they're useless!
Summary
Waste of a LOT of time making ringtones I liked only to not be able to use them anyway!

None that I'm aware of. If the developer still supported this program then it would contain the newer smart phones.

Didn't support my Moto Defy XT and they make you load worthless adware to be able to download the Tone This software.

Could choose the phone I needed from a list. Was easy to make my own tone.

stopped working , no longer got ads for anything, locked up when loading ringtone to server. Uninstalled and reinstalled no help. Tried 2nd PC no help

Easy to use (unless you are not computer literate), not only does it convert your mp3's to ringtones, it sends them to your desired phone number(s)/phone(s).
Cons
It does not support ALL carriers (i.e. Metro Pcs, Boost, Cricket), nor does it support ALL makes/models (i.e. Samsung Code, the latest iPhone).
Summary
It's near perfection. If it would only broaden it's support of carriers and certain models from some manufacturers, it would be superb! The software is as easy as they come. Other than a few typos and simplistic language usage in this software, it's very solid. Besides, I didn't download 'Tone This' to correct it's spelling and grammar. I downloaded it to convert, customize and send ring tones, which it does seamlessly and effectively, in a short amount of time. You would have to be a half-wit to not understand how to use this software (not to mention it includes a .readme file that most people are too lazy to look over). Pretty decent and fail-proof. So easy, a caveman can do it! ;-P
