Publish music and photos to a network-equipped TiVo.
TiVo Desktop software for the Mac works with your network-connected TiVo DVR and your Mac.Publish your personal music library to your TiVo DVR for playback through your TV and home entertainment system.Publish your iPhoto albums to your TiVo DVR for viewing photos and slideshows on your TV.
If you want to share your photos or music to your TiVo, this'll do it.
Cons
This program will not let you download programs to your Mac, you're still going to have to buy Toast for that or do it via FTP.
Summary
I was overjoyed seeing that they now had an app for Mac. Unfortunately I didn't read the description closely enough, all it will do for you is let you share music and photos on your tv via your TiVo. I don't want to do that, so this app is worthless to me. Neither do I want to cough up the $$$ to by Toast, so it looks like I'll be digging in to Sourceforge to see what alternatives there are.
works for me

Pros
does exactly what it is supposed to do. It allows me to play my music and view photos on the TV. Great for this holiday's family gathering!
Cons
difficult to skip to next song when playing music
Summary
Quick and easy in Snow Leopard
Pros
Clear listing of available programs.
Easy to migrate to computer.
Cons
Installation required a non-obvious setting in Toast Titanium 10.4.
Summary
The new program simplifies the downloading of programs.
Not ready for any computer
bastonivineyards
Pros
None that I can think of
Cons
Won't even run on my 8 core with Snow. Just double click it and nothing. Console says it is trying to open some file but permssions are not allowed.
Summary
Won't run, don't bother. Sad TIVO is so involved with other things they can't even test run the MAC software.
Not ready for release

Pros
There ARE no pros.
Cons
Cannot shut down computer if 1.9.4 is installed on a machine with Tiger. This buggy code prevents shutdown unless one manually STOPS the preference pane before attempting to shut down the computer.
Summary
Fix the code, then release. It offers nothing except headache over 1.9.3
No problems here.

It installed perfectly and it doesn't include instructions because it's so darn easy to use. First, check the boxes for share music and share photos then click Start.
My Tivo recognized it immediately. Interestingly, I was streaming CreamyRadio.com from iTunes, shut my laptop and the internet radio station kept playing.
Granted, we're still waiting for Tivo2Go but this works as advertised.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Okay, okay... so Tivo USED to have a current MacOSX version of their desktop. Well, now they don't... and apparently refuse to get it together for Tiger users. I wish I hadn't buoght a lifetime agreement with Tivo. With all their success, one would think they would offer better support for Mac. They are crap.

Just tested it.
I won't buy another TiVo they have had 9 months to fix this problem. Plus their 2.2 version has been out for PC since Aug.
There are other PVR's that do a better job of supporting macs.
Confirmed, it's working better than ever with 10.4.2

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I'm surprised TiVo didn't notify known Mac users that 10.4.2 allows TiVo Desktop to work again. It's working better than ever...much faster than before and so far no glitches with iTunes or iPhoto. As of this writing, I have the latest versions of everything including QuickTime 7.0.3 and iTunes 6.
I'm crossing my fingers that things don't break again with 10.4.3!
One thing that I did encounter was that the installer gave a "installation failed" message, but the software *did* install just fine.
