Used Thegrideon Asterisk Password Recovery for Windows?
Editors’ Review
This easy-to-use application displays the passwords hidden behind asterisks and a little more, but the process isn't as clean as it could be. Asterisk Password Recovery's compact interface has a basic button toolbar above a pane to view operation status and password information, although data sometimes scrolls by too quickly. There's not much of a Help file as this program really has only a pair of functions.
This program's primary tool displays hidden password characters for select applications. Users merely drag an icon from the application to any password box. Asterisk Password Recovery then immediately adds the current uncovered password to the saved list. Unfortunately, it doesn't save the window name where the password was found. That makes it difficult to later match the password with the correct account. Oddly, as the user drags the icon, the program stores text from other boxes, so it saves user name and other unnecessary information. The application also ferrets through Protected Storage to uncover additional passwords.
Asterisk Password Recovery's demo displays only select characters in any password, but enough to prove the application works. However, dragging an icon makes for a messy method to operate this application. Similar programs merely require users click in the password box. We suggest users search for a more efficient password recovery tool.
