This is not a product I would recommend to anyone
Avoid avoid avoid Missing Sync for Blackberry
mac tony
Pros
At this time, I can't think of one.
Cons
Even if you have a USB cable, it requires a Bluetooth connection. And let me assure you, Missing Sync NEVER pairs. My BB pairs via Bluetooth with my imac, macbook, etc, but NEVER pairs with Missing Sync for Blackberry.
Summary
Avoid Missing Sync for Blackberry. Aside from the bluetooth/usb obstacle, tech support is non-existent, unless you count KBs and forums as tech support. This product is full of good intentions but is the very definition of a time-suck. If you absolutely need to sync with a mac, find other options. Avoid avoid avoid.
Agree with the other reviewers...simply awful!
raviwall
Pros
Good concept (if it actually worked)
Cons
It would be bad enough if all it did was just not sync my blackberry to my mac. But Missing Sync actually managed to somehow DELETE MY DATA on BOTH devices, and I am still trying to recover months later.
Summary
Simply put, I paid $40 and what I got in return was the deletion of my vital data. Tech support was predictably useless. The whole thing was so traumatic that I actually switched platforms (from Blackberry to Android). Please, do yourself a huge favor, listen to the reviewers on this board, and do NOT buy this terrible product.
Didn't recognize my 8100

Pros
Hard to tell, and I'm sure there are some.
Cons
In my case, it wouldn't recognize the 8100.

Hard to say, it didn't detect my 8100.
Blackberry OS 6 and Missing Sync Do not work together
TripleTripleTripleF
Pros
<<cricket....cricket>>>
Cons
The website claims that Missing Sync works with Blackberry's OS 6 and Mac but I have yet to have had a successful sync. I have spent over 8 hours on this and still the same error comes up. Solutions for OS 5 don't work. A waste of $40.
Summary
I have a Macbook Pro running on OS 10.5.8 and the new Blackberry Torch. Mark/Space's website claims that their v2 software will sync these devices however, after following all directions, double, triple and quadruple checking, I get the same error every time I try to sync "fixing record ids". It says "this may take a while". I left my computer and phone connected and in this mode all night. It was still in the same mode in the morning. I tried to open a ticket with tech support and it says my user name or password is invalid - the user name is the email they've reached me at 3 times to get me the download codes and the password was entered twice on registration so it can't be a typo. The only phone number on their webpage goes to a voicemail saying they will email a response in 4 days if you state the purpose of your call - the voicemail is full.
I searched online for solutions and found one that had been apparently offered by Missing Sync tech support. It involved using a code that could only be obtained through a third party website. When I went to the site the author had posted an apology letter saying he had been forced by RIM to remove the code generator due to copyright infringement. Now, I have a $40 logo sitting on my computer and it is completely useless. Reading online it looks to have a 50% success rate so if you buy it you take your chances. In the meantime, I'll be selling the Torch and buying an iPhone. (And by the way, I've already run into 2 people with Macs considering the Torch - I've told them of my experience and they're both buying iPhones.)
works sometimes, annoying always
riwood99
Pros
Pros. It occasionally works. Or at least it did at first
Cons
All it really does is generate annoying error messages every time you start your Mac up, and during the day while you're using it. Oh, and then it 'cancels' your shut-downs too.
Summary
The product is a great idea badly executed. It's unpredictable and unreliable. Way too nigh-maintenance for a sync program (the whole point of which is that it should run in the background and not require your involvement at all). This is just not ready for prime time. If you don't mind dedicating 30 minutes a day to making it work, it does a great job. (of course, you could use that 30 minutes to MANUALLY update your BlackBerry too)
One Year, In Depth Review of Missing Sync

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I have used this product under a business license including tech support on two machines for a year now so this is not going to be one of those I've had it a week and it's great reviews. I have used this product on two generations of Mac laptops and succeeding generations of OS versions, but on the same two BB 8800 devices which during the usage were updated to the most current OS supported and upgraded to 8gb memory. We are a business and we use our macs, particularly calendars and contacts extensively. Further, we rely on mobile me to share our calendars and, more recently, have implimented Daylite as a contact/product manager. Prior to obtaining Missing Sync we used the software provided by BB which was generally functional but with a number of limitations and errors. Missing Sync suffers from different but just as serious limitations and errors. Errors are not tolerable in scheduling and contact management.
If you're thinking my review of 2.0.2 is out of date and that 2.0.3 would solve all the problems you would be mistaken. I upgraded to this newest version to find endless lockups, shifted dates in calendars, missing data, and features that simply didn't work at all. All I needed to do, according to tech support, was use force quit to stop the seized program and restart it. Not quite what we had in mind for continuous and frequent as well as reliable syncs. I rolled back to 2.0.2 on the advice of tech support.
This is a product that almost works most of the time. It will fail to sync if formatting allowed in both Mac and BB doesn't conform to its own requirements. Frequently we were faced with messages ranging from unable to sync due to ????, version mismatch messages, advice to shut down the program on both the handheld and the Mac (which requires a full sync and often requires the use of a USB connection). Data that was shared between the users via mobile me was often duplicated with each and every sync. Contact lists grew in size until there were five or six duplicates of the entire database on the device. Dates also often shifted by one day each time a sync was performed. The introduction of Daylite on our machines, which functions flawlessly on the mac, created new monsters to be slain and ended up with my partner disabling sync to the BB and shifting to her Apple iPod Touch (which does work flawlessly). We have never figured out the causes of the many and various failures, but this is one thing that should work perfectly everytime otherwise there is no point in using it as a business tool. Court dates were nearly missed, appointments were missed, and hours consumed trying to sort out the problems. I cannot recommend this product to anyone and will simply write off the cost of the program as bad judgment.
Tech support has been surprisingly good with quick responses to troubleshooting requests. However, reports generated by the program about errors is cryptic and generally meaningless ie. unable to open/close database, sync not completed. Syncing conflicts reported by the program and corrected manually never took and had to be manually performed every time. Our tech support was an extra cost service included with the business license. I cannot comment on the support provided to general users. A short excerpt sample below:

Synchronization cancelled due to error. You may need to restart The Missing Sync on the device if problems persist.
Less important features of the program such as syncing videos and music is so disappointing as to be pointless to attempt. Videos never successfully synced and music syncs so slowly that it is vain to even try. Music moves much, much more quickly just by moving folders across the USB cable.
The notion of using a Blackberry in conjunction with a Mac should be carefully considered, because we have come to determine that Blackberry just didn't intend them to be married. When experiencing how seamless and reliable syncing with an iPod Touch (like with an iPhone) can be it's clear that a Blackberry can only be managed on the most basic terms and without the added complications of using Mobile Me, shared calendars, and other integrated programs. We did not test this software with MS suite, but used the standard calendar and address book issued with the Mac.
It has been a disappointing year and we have decided to pull the plug on both Missing Sync software and the Blackberries, shifting back to basic mobile phones and iPod Touch devices.
My recommendation is that Missing Sync almost works and is tantalizing to consider using, but in practice it fails to perform reliably and consistently. The newest version is full of problems and does not appear to be getting sorted out.
Use this program at your own risk.

...t<br />This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />To oversimplify things by saying that "It just doesn't work" doesn't quite give a full picture of the frustration and pain associated with this product. I rely on my calendar for business and when this software randomly deletes data from my iCal I lose records of my time which means I lose money. Thankfully I backup , but having to restore my info every time I sync isn't my idea of software that works. I've been back and forth with their tech support numerous times and even paid for the 2.0 upgrade to the software hoping that it would eventually work.
Don't buy it, don't try, and if you have time send them hate-mail.
Stick with the official Blackberry Desktop software recently released for mac. It has its flaws but it works a hell of a lot better than this...thing.
Don't Buy It

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I've tried and tried, but as others note, this is a product that gets worse with every release. At this point, the client simply doesn't run on my BB, making syncing impossible. BlackBerry should be supporting Mac by now, but in the meantime, this "solution" is simply an overpriced boondoggle. One of the worst experiences I've had with any software product.
Gets worse with each update!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I have been using this software for several months now, and wow, does it suck. Seriously. I have been patient with tech support, but like other reviewers have said, response times are seriously lacking. I love my blackberry bold, but without a reliable way to sync, I'm pretty much stuck. I'm going to try Google's blackberry sync app, but if that doesn't work, I guess it's off to the iPhone. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT BUY Missing Sync for BlackBerry.
