Assign hot keys to open executable files using this simple handy application, but some stability issues hamper its effectiveness. The Big Red Button is itself an executable file that creates an icon in the system tray, which unveils a simple interface with check boxes for the function keys 1 through 10. There are only two buttons, one to assign executables to a function key and one to exit. It's easy to assign a program to a key with the program's browsing tool. Unfortunately, not all of the hot keys worked after saving the selections, and The Big Red Button occasionally failed to open when the executable was run. This freeware could be beneficial to all users for quick access to programs, but its sporadic performance limits its usefulness.

The BEST F-Key Hot Key I'v ever seen

I'v been using this since early 2002. It's the Best hot key program for the "F" buttons that I ever came accross. Just hit F5 and you can have Outlook open up or F7 and exployer opens and dials the internet. You can choose any application for any F button. Similar programs make you hit 2 buttons or more, not Big Red Button, just hit ONE. I wish it would do .BAT files though.

i use this all the time, i only wish i had more function keys!. i'm a graphics artist and i use so many things, i'm always back and forth back and forth, and this just makes it so fast and nice.

Won't co-exist with other uses of the 'Function Keys'. The interface has the option of disabling this proggie for specified 'F-keys'. But -in actuality- doesn't (at least in WinXP). Great idea with flawed implementation. If they ever get it right, I would re-install it !
