TestDisk is a powerful data recovery utility. It was primarily designed to help recover lost partitions and/or make non-booting disks bootable again when these symptoms are caused by faulty software, certain types of viruses or human error (such as accidentally erasing your Partition Table). PhotoRec is file data recovery software designed to recover lost pictures or lost files from digital camera memory (CompactFlash, Memory Stick, SecureDigital, SmartMedia, Microdrive, MMC, USB Memory Drives), even Hard Disks and CDRom. PhotoRec is safe to use, it will never attempt to write to the drive or memory support you are about to recover from. Recovered files are instead written in the directory from where you are running the PhotoRec program.

retrieved files where other software failed

Pros
It actually retrieved my pictures. I've tried Pandora Recovery and Recuva but both of them failed to get anything. With this I was able to get the pictures I took on my Canon PowerShot Elph 110 HS. The data was on a 32GB Dane-elec SDHC card but somehow got deleted.
Cons
The HD videos that I took couldn't be recovered unfortunately. I'll try some other free recovery tools.
Summary
Overall, out of the 3 free recovery tools that I've used, it's the best.
Not worth your time.

None that I could find.
Cons
I've been running TestDisk for 3 days and it is only 1% of the way through my 3T hard drive. At this rate it will take 300 days to work its way to the end. I'm baffled why anyone would find this product useful. I have a computer running windows 7 64-bit and an Intel Quad processor at 3ghz and with 6GB of ram. If this computer takes this long to evaluate a 3T drive, I can't imagine why anyone would find it useful.
