• Basic but very easy to use

  - Very easy to use - One of the few capture softwares that doesn't hog my resources - Price is right (it's FREE)

  Cons

  - Not many advanced features

  Summary

  If you are in need of a basic capture program for non-HD projects then this is the one for you. Don't look to it for outstanding editing tools though.

  Pros

  Very intuitive... all the default settings were great choice. I made my first avi file upon start up. Found the file with no trouble and ran it... terrific.. Picture was small, but not grainy... I like it.. just what I needed...

  I look forward to using this many times. Already thinking about upgrading to the pro version...

  lots of choice for compression of video files. should find whatever you require. easy enough to use with a simple interface.

  Cons

  doesn't let you know how much memory any operation is likely to use beforehand. you can end up with files using gigabytes of memory.

  Pros

  easy to install and to use. Good result from the first time. Video + audio are OK. I didn't play with the recompression setting, have to check that out.

  Cons

  4:3 video is OK, but 16:9 from same camera gave problems: resulting AVI (including sound) played slightly slower than normal.

  Pros

  This program uses up very little disk space on your computer and is comparable to products you would buy. It actually had a better image quality than the $150 software I had purchased!! :(

  Cons

  Every video I would capture had no sound however, I think this was a problem with my capture card, not the program (hard to tell though). I didn't take this into consideration with my rating. The reason I gave Stoik 3 stars is because it has very limited output formats and does not have a lot of settings that you can change. Also the preview window only worked about half the time. Also, about one hour after I installed this program, my Windows XP crashed. I don't know if it was a result of this program or another problem on my computer, however I instantly unistalled this program after that and I haven't had the problem since. May have just been a fluke. <p>Overall, I say try it, it worked better than the software I purchased!
