Summary
I am using ShopFactory 10. Gold. Very expensive initially and very expensive upgrades. This would be O.K if the product was any good. It's fairly easy to use but low on features and it does not deliver on most of the promises advertised when signing up. The major problem is with customer support. The "Support" seems to be just auto responder type information. Support ticket information is very hit and miss. If you submit any (even slightly) complex questions they just brake off communication with you and then your left with a piece of expensive and absolutely useless software. I have wasted a lot of time and money on ShopFactory and I hope this review will save someone making the same mistake I did.

I really can't bring myself to mention the pros because nothing makes up for the glitches, bugs and dreadful support that I have experienced over the years I have been using this software. This week I have again witnessed the dreadful lack of urgency on their part and it has cost me a full weekend's trade.
Cons
There are many cons but do I really need to say more than this......As of this moment, due to a login error at SF's end, I have no access to my shop files. There's been no response to a 'critical' support ticket I submitted two days ago. I haven't been able to upload vital data to my website, stock quantities, new products, out-of-stock flags, sales offers, all of which are crucial to my successful trading over a bank holiday weekend. SF is ruining my business and they don't give a damn. They are complacent and they get away with it because their HQ is strategically placed in Romania so users can't take legal action to recover their losses. They do have a sales office in the UK - funny that. SF are arrogant to the point that they will dismiss the details in a support ticket and reply with useless instructions as if you're stupid. On one occasion it took them over six months to admit that a problem was at their end. In the meantime I had no website. I did not get an apology or a refund.
Summary
All software packages have their issues and this is where user support is essential. Shopfactory support is diabolical and, at worst, non-existent. I will receive a response eventually, but I can virtually guarantee that it will be a computer generated message and then they will deny that they have a problem. If your website is your revenue stream, there's no point in investing in web software unless it supports your business at ALL times.
Buggy, missing many standard features, terrible support

Reasonably simple to set up a small site.
Cons
Any customizations to a template are much more complicated. Even simple features like forms are not catered for. The site templates are now very dated and the sites looks old fashioned. I have had, and still have, so many bugs. As for the support, they mainly send just pre-scripted template answers. Today, they missed an appointed time (which they set) to do a remote session on my PC.
Summary
I agree totally with Sebo and Edward. If I had a choice today, I would not buy it.
Latest Import Wizard crashes - cannot do its' job.

The 'idea' of the import wizard.
Cons
Too basic - No wiggle room when it comes to site functionality. If you want your website to look like every one elses, then no issues. Import Wizard, which is supposed to be a time saver to upload multiple products, is so full of holes and dead-end loops of failures that I wasted hours of my life. The Import Wizard for version 7 worked fine for me. As soon as I paid hundreds of dollars for version 9, everything went to he**. I couldnt even contact Shop Factory without going through another endless loop of useless information with nothing on error messages or contact information. Find different software to create your website. You do not want to get stuck like I have.

For a computer nitwit like me the SF program is a revelation. Without any programming knowledge I had my shops on line in a jiffy. The program is very friendly to operate. The available templates and the possibility to customize just about everything makes building a shop with an own special look very easy indeed. Postage and payment methods inserted with a few clicks and the order processing works like a dream. All in all, it does what was promised.

Summary
My thoughts above about this program back in 1999 when I bought a CD called Webshop Factory Pro, version 3.5. Without any doubt the best thing I ever bought for my business because it gave my turnover an enormous boost. We're almost 13 years, six upgrades and many, many thousands of orders further but the feeling about the program stayed the same. It's still doing a perfect job. The upgrades, every single one worth the money, took care of new developments and requirements and added new trendy features, keeping it up to date throughout the years. And it still does what is promised. Sure, I ran into a bug or a problem once in a while but then there always was support from a team of friendly, dedicated and helpful people that kept me going. That's worth a lot to me.

I am a businessman managing a shop and an online store. I don't have much time really to tweak on HTML codes and CSS to create and upload a fully working ecommerce website. ShopFactory helps me save a lot of time. The interface is very user friendly that I could get my store up and running in 24 hours.
Cons
Well, like any other softwares, I encountered bugs in my design template. ShopFactory Development Team was able to fixed some bugs I encountered by providing updates now and then.
Summary
This ecommerce software is something I would recommend for those who wants to get their shop up and running in the soonest possible time. I like ShopFactory.

We have used ShopFactory 9 to create one of our webshops and we were amazed by how easy it was to create a professional looking website. When we needed support we got fast replies form both support and the user forum. It has all the functions we need for our shop and I'm sure that we will be using it in the future for other projects.

This company would charge you to fix a bug if they could!!! very pricey upgrades. you may think that buying this expensive program that it will last for years.... WRONG, if windows brings out a new opperating system, and you use it you are left with an expensive NON WORKING program!!! Only option from company is to UPGRADE!

Just stumbled across this review and thought I'll give some feedback on my experience with ShopFactory 9. (Its on this site as ShopFactory Total Care). Anyway, I couldn't be happier (which is probably why the last review below annoyed me so much - these guys work really hard at creating a great software). From the way I look at it I wanted an easy to use software which would create a professional shop for me which would let me sell online and make money with a minimum of fuss. Well, that's exactly what I got, and a whole lot more. Their support is great, and when I have some general questions I usually get a respnse on the user forum quickly - sometimes within just an hour or two. What thrilled me the most was that I got top position in Google after not even two weeks with some of my keywords after switching to ShopFactory, without doing anything other than adding my text! That really thrilled me and helped my sales.
Cons
They don't have some features that other ecommerce solution have, like the other guy said, such as real-time chat - but you can easily add a free chat function if you want. I haven't because I had one running with my old ecommerce solution and it annoyed people because they always wanted me to be online and immidiately respond - which I couldn't do as a small business. Thy have all the features I need and are a lot easier to use than most other solutions though.
Summary
I tried over 10 eCommerce solutions before I settled on ShopFactory 9 - I think it's one of the best solutions out there bar none. It has gazillions of features built in and I like a lot that I can build my shop on my own computer and just upload the shop or the changes when I am ready. Maintaining my shop online used to drive me crazy with all that waiting when the Internet wasn't as fast as it was supposed to be.
