• Crashed TWO computers

  10 years as a net admin/PC tech and this is the worst program I've ever installed. First installation was on a P4 laptop running XP SP3 and the second was on a dual core tower running XP SP3. Immediately after installation, both units blue screened

  Summary

  It is a waste of your time to download this and I suggest to CNET that they remove it from their lineup. 2 installs + 2 BSOD = Major Failure If you get a Blue Screen 1. Restart your PC and tap F8. Choose either safe mode option 2. Click Start-Run and type msconfig and press enter 3. Under the start up tab uncheck sppfw click OK 4 Restart your PC and remove the program through the uninstall shown in All Programs or through the Control Panel.

  I installed the software and was prompted for a restart. I restarted and got the blue screen. I restarted 3 times and got it every time. I started in safe mode and unistalled this software. now my computer is back to normal.

• Reboot loop

  Free. Has VPN client - lacking in XP MCE (Media Center Edition) for some dumb reason.

  Installed on XP MCE with SP3. It required a reboot. After reboot and the start of Securepoint, there was no error message and the product didn't handle whatever problem it was having - got into a reboot loop. Had to start in Safe Mode & uninstall.

  Summary

  Don't install. If you do, use F8 to go into Safe Mode - reboot, after you see a flash on your screen - press F8, so you can uninstall in the Controll Panel, Add/Remove Programs.

  I didn't get a chance to try the software. The problem may be that I tried the software on Windows XP Home edition. Professional edition has built in IPSec capability and this may be the reason why it locked up on me. First error message was in German and I had to use Babel fish to translate for me.

  On computer restart after initial installation, the computer was put into a contiuous loop - installation attempt, failure and restart - over and over. I had to use my Win Patrol program to stop it.

  Pros

  Easy to use, easy to understand, user manual (PDF) available. I had Sygate before, then tried NetVeda Safety.Net. It was a little technical and didn't remember trusted sites all the time for me. So far, Securepoint is doing great.

  Other than having a word here and there in German look out of place...nothing yet.

  what i did not like was that this was a fake firewall and really a virus. when i installed this on my computer it caused it to crash exactly 2.5 minutes after system start-up. this forced me to use system restore and take my computer back to another date to fix it
