• A piece of wrecking macinary

  The trial period was 1 day. It caused blue screen of death. Uninstall did not work. System still unusable after 1 days continuous efforts.

  Summary

  The day after I installed it I got the message that the trial period was up. It then purported to proceed in some cut down mode and outlawed connexions came with the speed of light. Eventually everything froze. It has taken over 24 hours to get the system back into semi-working order. Now most things I try to do cause windows explorer to crash, and let's face it, Windows is of little use without it! Uninstalling it, which ws my first strategy, resulted in messages at start up (which had to be in safe mode, because I got the blue screen otherwise) inicating that it was not uninstalled, and a visit to programmes and the registry confirmed this. Having got rid of all traces the blue screen was still with me. I eventually got back to booting normally with a system restore (well, two actually), but still left with an unusable system. (Windows explorer crashing and the circle which has replaced the egg timer, going endlessly with just about everything I do). Bottom line - keep well clear of this destructive garbage.

  Pros

  Works well in detection in leak tests and has all the bells and whistles; living charts etc. Does not jam-up network broadbands as some of the other free fire-walls do.

  the control center and directions are confusing. The program is very intrusive and has to be shut during many downloads

  Quick enough to set up.

  Constantly asking for permission for any program to even function...again and again and again... The constant questions slows your internet surfing down to a crawl.

  VERY DIFFICULT TO CONFIGURE. went to their faq's and they are just as hard to understand. option to remember this descision doesn't work and you keep have to click the same questions away. i have uninstalled it untill i can find out how to work it. no luck yet, went online for 2 hrs yesterday- can't find out anything. even downloads.com hasn't an editor's review yet. kept it on watch list. also, it doesn't say if you should shut off windows firewall......

  Pros

  had some problems with zone alarm on my broadband network. But this program had no issues. Low on resource use and very sensitive to incoming and outgoing packets. Has most of the bells and whistles you would expect and seems to be very effective according to the leak tests. Worth the trouble of the initial installation. Soon will become a trusted friend.

  I little frightening on installation and the directions could be written clearer. Very intrusive, I had to shut it down during some downloads because of repetitive block or allow pop-ups.
