• Great concept w/ really helpful features but one glitch

  Pros

  Love that you can manage settings via GPO after installing program on each PC. Administrator session unlock feature means I no longer have to keep a list of users' passwords. Saving logon/logoff, remote connections, screensaver lock/unlock info to SQL Server table has allowed me to save a number of useful queries - much easier to work with than Windows event logs. When I work on someone's computer I can leave a note telling them what I did on the screen that they'll see when they go to unlock.

  Cons

  Disappointed with the restart feature. It's supposed to allow you to have all PC's restart in the middle of the night only if there are no open files. This feature worked on about half the PCs initially but now none of our PCs restart. Also, people connected via RDP over our network to their Windows 7 PC from a remote Windows XP PC for some reason causes their Windows 7 desktops to spontaneously reboot. Birch Grove support is stumped. I gave up and went back to a scheduled task to reboot PCs at 3 am each night - open files or not. Also, the various settings can affect each other (e.g. one setting may not work depending on how you configure another setting). This is confusing. Would suggest thorough testing in a lab and/or a small test group before deploying to everyone to make sure it works as expected.

  Summary

  Great concept and definitely worth the money but wish the restart feature worked for us.
