  Summary

  I tried about 20 roster schedulers, and this came close to what we could actually use, but its crashiness and somewhat combersome-ness in some areas, plus no responses from tech supoprt... kept us looking elsewhere. I love the thinking that went into the design, and it feel natural to use... two very tall orders in this sort of software. That's why I give it 4 stars in spite of its shortcommings. We finally settled on SmartRoster... just a dynamite piece of software, powerful, versatile, easy to use, and personal tech support. Sorry Binary House, but keep working on it. BTW, none of the other roster apps I found here on cnet are worth mentioning.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Feb 26, 2011<p/>Forgot to mention... when I infer 'others', it does well to clarify... I needed to set several events on repeating days, each event having duty-slots. So for instance, on Sats we have 3 1hour events. the first event has 1 host and 1 helper slot. The other ones have 2 hosts and 2 helper slots. This program makes it easy to map this out and see it in a logical presentation. The series (of events) feature is really helpful, but its not fully developed, so for instance, the series will not restart at a point where you break into it with a unique assignment, which tends to present challenges to scheduling. This is a common gripe with less professional scheduling applications in general. Hopefully they will fix this. May not all make sense till you try it out, and I do recommend trying out this product. If nothing else it will give you a better idea of what to expect from something like this.
