Start renaming files using any number to increment. File can be renamed using a minimum number of numeric digits. Specify a file name that starts with text; specify a file name that ends with a text and specify a file that starts with text and end with a text. Search and Replace in file names to remove or change text in file names. You can rename files according to directory names. You can recourse directories in your renaming operations. The application is free for downloading. It also defines some filters to apply to a list of files, which can be in multiple folders, to rename the whole list at once.

  I needed to replace a char in the middle of the file name and all it can do is change the file extension.
