Clean the registry to speed up your computer and stop program crashes.
Registry First Aid scans the Windows registry for orphan file and folder references, finds these files or folders on your drives that may have been moved from their initial locations, and then corrects your registry entries to match the located files or folders. In addition, if your registry has links to files of deleted applications, Registry First Aid will find these invalid entries and remove them from your registry. With Registry First Aid, your Windows registry will be always clean and correct, helping your programs load faster and speeding up your computer.
The best registry cleaner (and I've tried quite a few)
cholly67
Pros
simple to use, fast & thorough. The only program that makes my pcs run noticeably smoother.
Cons
turn off 'check for updates' in settings or you might find you download an updated version which they then charge you for.
Summary
This is the best registry clean up program that I have used. It finds many more errors than others, gives you the chance to manually correct links and to backup the registry for later restoration. Also can compress registry making the pc noticeably faster.
Simply the best I've found.
Pros
Too many to name, but allows a limit so you are not having to make decisions on a 1000 errors. Suggests corrections.
Cons
Could be free

DOT TO TRY!
Good, but don't accept default corrections
ParrotSlave
Pros
Wonderful interface, fast, easy to understand entries, and easy to select corrections. I've had the program since version 2.5 in 2002, and updated regularly. I've been most happy with it.
Cons
Do NOT under any circumstance just tell it to "fix" everything it finds by accepting its default suggestions. That's true for ALL registry "repair" programs. As an example, suppose you have a reg entry pointing to a missing file named "readme.html" or "setup.exe" or even ".img". When RFA scans for corrections, it will find all the readme.html files--my system has 9 at the moment--and, if you're not careful and let it correct things automatically, you may find something such as, when you try to read Adobe Premiere Elements version of "readme.html," the program will open an amazonmp3uploader readme.html. If it doesn't find the .img that an installer put in, it will come up with a list of a whole bunch. Be careful with any file that has a common name. Select manually, or tell it to either delete the key or just the substring. It's a hassle to do this manually, but there is no other choice. (Caveat: disconnect any external drives when you scan, or it'll look for corrections there also.)
Summary
Life is not simple. You can't use this without a little bit of thinking. When in doubt, leave the entry in. It finds a lot of entries pointing to temp files, which I'm iffy about deleting, since well-written programs will delete those files when they are closed, but always generate new ones when the program is run again. Since the file names of temp files are usually random, it should be safe to delete them, but I keep wondering if, if the program itself generates such a file, it might generate it with the same name each time, so that the entries in question might be "invalid" when the program is not running, but suddenly valid when the program is opened. Perhaps a programmer would comment on this.
does it job

A computer killing piece of crap
Wunderdogg
Pros
None. I have nothing good I can say about this junk
Cons
This piece of junk will bring you to computer hell
Summary
This software will cause far more problems than it will ever solve. A total piece of crap.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Dec 1, 2011<p/>Even though I only corrected errors that were supposedly totally safe to fix, I ended up having to do a complete reformat after using this software. It will turn your minor problems into major ones.
Free version limits number of corrections per run.
Joseph Decker
Pros
Is thorough.
Cons
Full functionality requires the paid version. I had to use the Revo Uninstaller to remove the software completely from my machine, otherwise it issues reminders.
Summary
Use something else.
Fixes registry issues.
Indianatone
Pros
Easy to use, backs up registry, cleans old unused registry entries and defrags the registry
Cons
None except the Platinum version of the program is more expensive. The regular standard version is a very capable program and great for most users.
Summary
I have used this program for almost 10 years versions 3, 7 & 8 and it has never caused any issues for me. It has always cleared my registry of thousands of unneeded entries left by software. If you own a previous version there is a really good discount on the upgrade price. I was pleased to find this new version works on 64 bit windows.
A great program for the toolkit for the power user.
seemes to do what it says it does
robertrwt
Pros
simple to use---even a dummy like me can use it
Cons
dont know what the second search is for--and it leaves too many choices to the user to really screw up the registry...
