Registry Explorer displays the registry as a normal Windows folder--so whatever pros and cons exist in Windows Explorer exist in Registry Explorer as well. The keys behave like directories in the file system, and the values like files. You can navigate via buttons, and drag and drop items in the directory structure. You can use the program to create backups of your registry keys and change a key's permissions. Registry Explorer also lets you create registry files that can be exported and used on other computers. As with Regedit, this free program should only be downloaded by experienced users.

Pros
None, because this product replaces the registry in Windows. So if you use this you could mess up your operating system.
Cons
Everything removes the registry and will mess up Windows. AVOID THIS.
Summary
I tried this on my friends old computer it has Windows 7. But it corrupted the registry. This product replaces the registry in all versions of Windows,that is in Windows XP,Windows Vista Windows 7 and older versions Windows 2000,98 and 95. But you CANNOT delete the registry as it is part of the Windows operating system. So you cannot copy the registry with another software,delete the original registry and still have Windows work,no. As it proved with my friends computer in which Windows had to be reinstalled again. You registry comes with your Windows operating system and is part of it. So You should NEVER alter or delete any registry keys or replace the registry like this product does. Or you will have a lot of problems. I do not understand why these third party products can be allowed to do this.That is take out the original registry and totally replace it. It cannot be done on Windows. And as the registry is part of Windows. Who knows better,Windows or a third party software? My advice is STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT and other products like this.Because YOU CANNOT replace your registry in any versions of Windows and still have Windows work. The regisrty plays a very important part in your Windows operating system. Without it Windows is will not work. So my advice is to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT AND OTHERS LIKE IT> Or you will break your Windows operating system. Andrea Borman.

Installed fine; registry immediately appeared in Windows Explorer.

Tried to do a search. Not pleasant. Tried to do a bookmark. Failed. Tried to uninstall. CAN'T DO IT. AVOID!
Summary
Tried to do a search. Search feedback was very strange (vigourously flickering status string, followed by long pauses of nothing, all with CPU pegged.) In the end, failed to find the string that I knew was there. Tried to do a bookmark of "Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/etc. But the application (and Windows Explorer, since it's integrated into Explorer) froze. Killed the Windows Explorer process and tried again. Got a bookmark named "Registry". Not very helpful. Got tired of it at this point. Tried to uninstall. CAN'T DO IT. There is no "uninstall" link, and the program DOES NOT APPEAR in Add/Remove Programs. Presently trying to get rid of it by doing a System Restore. AVOID!
Crashed my explorer.exe immediately after installation.

with this software i was able to hack my school computer since they disabled the registry so i couldnt get into it but with this software it let me in LoL thanks to whoever made this program

Like another poster, it froze my XP (2.0 GHz cpu). It ran very smoothly, but when I tried searching, it froze my comp twice. Hopefully the developers can fix this--it looks very promising.

Indeed handy, yes.. Instead of firing up any other app than the one probably most used and therefore probably open anyway, Registry Explorer adds more walue to the name Windows Explorer.

Explore the Windows Registry as if it were a normal folder.

Registry Explorer can be used to replace Windows' Regedit. This software takes integration with Windows to a new level. It is based on shell-extension technology. After you install the software, your desktop will contain a new item called Registry that you can use to explore your registry just as with your file system. The software features dragging and dropping and copying and pasting for easily moving values, inserting new keys and different values, and editing and renaming values. You can use the Find function to search the registry. On Windows 2000, you can even edit a key's permissions, just as with Regedt32. The software also lets you link to the registry from a Web page. You can create inverse registry files that delete selected keys or values instead of adding them. A handy feature is the ability to copy the key name or the full registry key path. You can put the registry folder wherever you like: on your desktop, in My Computer, or in a file system folder. New in version 1.4 is the ability to create backups of keys and restore these later, and the ability to load and unload hives. Also, all features of Registry Explorer now are available in Regedit and Regedt32.
