ReactOS is a free, modern operating system based on the design of Windows XP/2003. Written completely from scratch, it aims to follow the Windows architecture designed by Microsoft from the hardware level right through to the application level. This is not a Linux based system, and shares none of the unix architecture.

Alternative to Windows OS

Free laid out like a Windows OS
Cons
Numerous, buggy, system would lock up often. Some of the programs listed were there to be downloaded or didn't work. Unstable.
Summary
I downloaded the stable version from ReactOS site. It gives a nice looking platform to run WINE that isn't on Linux as such. The one that was to be on a VirtualBox appliance had an error in it so it would load in VirtualBox. I downloaded the CD ISO. It loaded into VirtualBox, but was still buggy.as mentioned earlier. It is based on interesting idea, but really shouldn't be put out to the public until it runs much better.
Does not work on SATA hard drives without SATA drivers.

Runs windows apps and is easy to use.

Does not work on SATA without having to slipstream drivers.
Summary
Great,very easy to install,and even easier if you have a IDE hard drive.
