Recover data on formatted or damaged disks and partitions.
R-Studio for Mac is powerful and cost-effective data recovery software for Apple lovers. Additional file recovery algorithm increases the quality of file recovery and recovers files not recognized in file system metadata. Dynamic disk and RAID (including RAID 6, RAID10 (1+0), RAID1E, RAID5E, RAID5EE, and RAID6E) are supported as well as recovering encrypted files, compressed files and alternative data streams. Automatic RAID parameter recognition for RAID5 and RAID6 was added in 4.0 version. Files and file systems structures (NTFS/FAT boot sectors, MFT file record, MBR, LDM structures, etc) can be viewed and edited in the professional disk hex editor. In addition to byte to byte copy of any object visible in the Drives panel, smart copy of partitions and hard drives with size and offset adjustment is available. Reverse RAIDS support enables the user to decompose a real disk object into a virtual RAID. R-Studio displays S.M.A.R.T. attributes for hard drives to show their hardware health and predict their possible failures. Extended Viewer Plugin allows viewing a content of the found files to estimate recovery chances prior to purchasing. Flexible parameter settings give you absolute control over data recovery.
It has a bootable version that can be used on new MacBo

Pros
A very efficient file recovery program for the Mac platform. Plus, quite a powerful raw file search algorithm. And a lot of instructions on file recovery on their site.
Cons
Maybe, its GUI, more suitable for advanced users.
Summary
My friend deleted important files and emptied the Trash on its MacBook. You know, when MacOS empties Trash, it does delete files. And only raw file recovery is possible. To avoid installing a program, I booted the computer using the startup version, scanned the disk, and found almost all files. Mysteriously, the program was able to recovery even file names for jpeg pictures.
Best Mac file recovery program!!!
Pros
You can fully test the program before purchase. Lots of tutorials on their site.
Cons
None. Really!
Summary
I tried several Mac other recovery programs to save my NY photos from a broken memory card. All in vain. The problem was that the card stopped responding within app. 5 min, making even the imaging impossible. But I made up a smart trick with R-Studio for Mac: I imaged the card through several regions on it, then I combined them into a compound volume, scan it, and get all the files back. None of all other programs could do that.
Successful data recovery from internal MacPro RAID5
iranewport256
Pros
Supports built-in Mac Pro RAID5 of 4 disks.
Cons
Not easy to find necessary information in its docs.
Summary
As it appears, R-Studio for Mac supports internal MacPro RAID5 consisting of 4 disks. The necessary information was hidden inside its help. It became possible to recover files from such corrupted RAID.
Successful file recovery from an external disk
iranewport256
Pros
Recovered file names and complete folder structure from a disk with a corrupted file system.
Cons
A little bit confusing user interface.
Summary
Mistakenly an external Mac disk was connected to a Windows machine and initialized. After this all files and folders disappeared. The disk was scanned and all files were successfully recovered. Moreover, the program was able to recover the original folder structure, too.

I couldn't recover my deleted docs
khrisallen
Pros
nothing good
Cons
If you switch computers, you are out of luck so beware. I had heard this tool great reviews but after digging, it's not so great; I would recommend you try a different product and try a demo before purchasing like I did. Now I can't afford another app.
Summary
File recovery program for all cases.

Pros
I was able to recover files from our home Linux NAS and my wife's external hard drive from a Windows computer.
Cons
Its interface. You have to learn a little bit before starting file recovery.
Summary
A sudden power outage crashed our two family data storages: our NAS device and an external drive connected to my wife's Windows laptop. The first luck, it appears that the hardware is not damaged, only their file systems.
For the hard drive the case was easy: I scanned it and the program found the crashed NTFS partition. Luckily, all wanted files were not damaged, so I just copied them to my MacBook Pro.
But it was much trickier with the NAS device with its RAID5 and Ext3fs. I had to take the disks out of the case, connect them to my MacBook Pro using a USB3 adapter and create their images. Then I created a kind of RAID5 in R-Studio, scanned it, which took a lot of time, and found all our files.
Crap software!

Pros
It really recovers files and they have tons of tutorials on their site.
Cons
I can't found one.
Summary
A memory card with my family vacation videos was accidentally formatted. I found their site with a tutorial on how to recover lost videos from a camera's flash card. It was for their Windows file recovery product, R-Undelete, but the same technique can be used for R-Studio for Mac, too. I followed their instructions and was able to save all recovered videos to my computer.
It didn't recover file names, though, but as I understand that's because the scan for known file types was used, and that was the only file recovery method that could be used for my case.
