Editors’ Review
Quicksys RegDefrag might be the prettiest back-end utility we have ever come across. The Web 2.0-esque design almost makes us want to take back stars from other Registry defraggers.
An Options menu lets you manage several settings, including checking for updates automatically, adding RegDefrag actions to context menus, and managing system and Registry backups. You can also choose from one of 17 languages, including Magyar, Arabic, and two that wouldn't even show up on our screen. This program does two things: displays your Registry information and defrags. The program performed without a hitch for us, although it did render our computer useless during the actual defrag process--annoying but not unheard of. Keep in mind that like defragging your hard disk, this kind of Registry work can take a long time. If you are using Windows 7, be aware that some people have indicated problems using RegDefrag on that platform.
By itself, the clear, intuitive interface would make this program appropriate for just about anyone, but since this is a tool for defragging a Registry, novices should proceed with caution. All in all, Quicksys RegDefrag performs to standard but shines with an unusually pleasant interface.
