• Very Good for Something Free - Close to SnagIt

  Pros

  I was looking for something similar to SnagIt which I find is very good but not free. I found this and am quite impressed that for something free, it comes close to SnagIt. I have compared and tried many free screen capture tools from Download.com. Most of them are no good. But this one is great. My only gripe is it doesn't have a small convenient toolbar like SnagIt but it has a good editor. Another free screen capture program that is also very good and on par with this one is FastStone Capture. Check it out. It has a nifty toolbar but its editor's draw options require a 2nd click to get there. Otherwise very good too.

• Fabulous Utility - Despite Minor Flaws, worthy of 5 Stars

  Pros

  Microsoft should buy this utility and incorporate it into Windows; it's that good. I have used it for the past three years or so and practically use it several times every day. If you take a few minutes to get the hang of it, you won't regret it. <p> <p>Etrusoft deserves a good deal of credit for developing this. I think it is better than Snag-it. I have plenty of software on my PC, but, there are a few must-have software products in my book that include MS Office, Symantec Ghost 9, MSN Desktop Search, and Quick Screen Capture.

  Cons

  1. There is a bug when attempting to print a captured object; it prints blank pages. Also, trying to print to Adobe PDF does not work either. <p> <p>2. Quick Screen Shot Maker was an attempt to carry this great utility to the next step, but, it fell short. Etrusoft should have attempted to enhance Quick Screen instead. <p> <p>3. There are situations when Quick Screen Capture cannot capture an image. For example, attempting to capture a Yahoo Engine Widget from the Desktop, the widget disappears during the attempted capture process (when the cross-hairs appear). However, Snag-it performs this function quite well.

  Pros

  Product allowed me to capture 12 months of lunar calendars generated by java applet in my browser window, and save them to bitmap format. Sat quietly in the system tray until I right-clicked on it. Very easy to use.

  Cons

  I didn't appreciate the conditions of the "free trial." Cnet has this piece listed as a "30-day" trial, but it is actually only good for 30 uses (30 individual "captures"). Worse, after 8 captures, a nag box pops up every time you use the software. Program crashed when I tried to do a full-window capture of browser window.
