PPPshar Pro is a proxy server that enables you to share a single Internet connection of any type (dial-up TCP/IP, ISDN, ADSL, cable modem, or Ethernet connection) among several computers in a network. All the Internet facilities, such as e-mail, WWW, FTP, Telnet, IRC, Real Audio/Video, ICQ, SOCKS 4 & 5, are preconfigured to get started immediately. Home/SOHO networks, SMEs, educational institutions, and others can connect by LAN to the Internet securely and cost-effectively. It has a simple interface, no configuration hassles, and is easy to use.

Version 1.9 runs minimized as an icon in the system tray. The program size is reduced by more than half, and there is an updated help document. Improved http and https proxy.

Pros
Pros are that I've tried several others which didn't work. I installed pppshar configured the browser proxy and worked first time, took about 15 minutes total.
Cons
Only con I've found is that I haven't been able to use windows update service on the client machine for some unknown reason. I'm guessing because MS uses .dll on the site.

Tried a couple of others and couldn't even get through configuration without problems. This program took me about 5 minutes to set up and get online with my client PC. I am quite pleased. Excellent instructions as well.

What Microsoft could not offer to me does this small program. It works with my ISDN modem! Setup is easy. No problems with the firewall as well. PERFECT!

In three years, the program works well when it works, but requires sometimes DAYS of configuration efforts after I take my laptop on the road and switch to dial-up connections. Myriad conflicts with other software, and email support is a joke. Help files and online help library doesn't even adress IE 6 problems. When email responds, answers are simply repeats of basic info from the Help files, with no follow up. Getting online services to work through proxy settings is difficult, and several have NEVER worked through the pppshar software, such as my virus update and IM. Bottom line: good for simple applications, but if you're hooking up a laptop that goes on the road, using several different connections, beware. Better to save your time and buy a router or modem/router combo.

after trying ICS and Sygate, I decided to try this little gem because the other 2 failed after one whole day of configuring. Hey, this works!!!!! At least the http part.. will attempt to try other configure programs like outlook express and icq soon. Thanks!

Stable, and easy to configure. Plus, you get the added bonus of having an open email relay on your system so your ISP will shut down your account. Use with extreme caution, if you use it at all.

A very good program, Reletively easy to setup> However I was disapointed that the free trial verison will only let you set up one client computer on your network I have two plus my server. I do highly recommend this program for its ease of use and setup

Having tried varios internet sharing options all without success i stumbled upon this product. The beauty for me was the step by step instructions of how to configure the pc's on the network, without doubt this is the stumbling block to get the software to work. This product works, dont ask how but it does. Had top contact the email support twice and got replies the next day. Managed to get ms messenger working, with the help of the support as the instructions on the site was not quite correct. happily say that i now share the net on my 2 laptops and both use ms messenger at the same time..woooppeee
