Sometimes simple tools are the ones we use the most. This diary application, though limited in what it can do, is a reliable piece of freeware that has its uses. You can create or delete journal entries (records under a single heading), add or remove records, or export records as text, HTML, or comma-separated values (CSV). Searching is limited, as you can only search by entry number, and the program has no formatting options, with all entries in plain text. A skinnable interface adds a stylistic touch, but not one that contributes overall to the program's usefulness. We liked that entries can be password-protected, however. For those looking for a robust diary application, this is not your program. However, for basic diary tasks with few frills and little fuss, PowerJournal works well.

You only have one option and that is to change the skin colour. I would have liked it better had I been able to change the font and colour of font.

I am surprised that this site has it on their database. It is absolutely useless.

It has a simple, clean interface. It seems to record journal entries without a problem. This is a Java application, which means you need Java Virtual Machine on your computer; this explains why some people have install problems, as you need to install Java first.
Cons
The export function flat out does not work. The program does not include an uninstall icon. If it's the only Java app on your system, it's not worth the effort.

This is a very nice program for someone who wants to keep a diary or journal. Easy to use and works well. On top of that is FREE and you can't hardly go wrong there. The more I use it, the more I like it.

An overall great journal program I've been using for a while now. But there are a few bugs. Like how it automatically scrolls to the BOTTOM of every journal entry when you select it. That annoys me.

This easy-to-use diary application features multiple journals, private entries, guest-mode access for public entries, a built-in database (HSQL), MySQL support, the ability to export to text, CSV, or HTML, the ability to change its look (it's skinnable), and easy installation. Possible uses include keeping a diary, keeping a record of your weight, logging what you eat, keeping track of your CDs or DVDs, recording your car maintenance, and keeping track of logins.
