Used P-Guard Privacy Protection for Windows?
Editors’ Review
This simple file-removal tool suffers from too many quirks and errors to be an effective privacy protection tool. P-Guard Privacy protection lacks a manual and the online help site was unavailable during our tests. However, experienced users should understand most functions without difficulty.
The program uses Cleaning Profiles to set which files should be removed from the system. We found the New Profile Wizard unprepared to create a complete profile. Creating a custom profile fails to include options to clean select Windows Operating System areas. Setting the OS cleaning options is only possible in the program's preferences. Editing saved profiles proved difficult as the program often failed to correctly display profile changes. Also, changing which browsers to be cleaned often simply failed to save correctly. On the occasions it cleans correctly, this app works quickly. Unlike many similar programs, this utility doesn't offer users the opportunity to save selected files from deletion.
P-Guard Privacy Protector offers to clean aspects of select third-party software. This demo restricts that option and also doesn't allow deleting Internet Explorer files. With so many more robust privacy applications on the market, this app falls far short in both design and execution.
