NightTunes is a plugin for iTunes that can automatically turn off, hibernate, or send your computer to standby at the end of a playlist. No more hard disk clatter noise or blowing CPU fans disturbing your sleep, plus you're reducing your your energy bill and your carbon footprint. Unlike other shutdown solutions, NightTunes does not depend on user-set timers to determine when to shutdown your PC. That way it is guaranteed that your computer won't bail out on you right in the middle of your goodnight tale, only because you forgot to set the timer right.

- starts automatically with iTunes - very simple interface - shuts down at the end of a playlist (no need for timers) - low price

- no automatic updates
Summary
I love the plugin for its simplicity. With any other product I used so far, I had to set something like a sleep timer that would shut down my PC after a defined period of time. That always ended up in my PC powering down right in the middle of the audiobook I was listening to, because I had set the timer too little. With this plugin it's different, because it will shut down your PC at the end of the current playlist. Also it installs as a "true" iTunes plugin, so it starts and shuts down with iTunes. No separate program running here.
