The simple app consists of a sliding bar that's set to 1.0, regular time, when a video plays. Slide it to the left to slow the sound and picture, or to the right to speed both elements to two or three times the original speed. You can also use shortcut keys to quicken or slow the video. Crtl+Alt+F makes it faster; Crtl+Alt+S drags it down.

The audio and video largely remained in sync when tampered with, but original trip-ups in streaming and buffering were more noticeable with the video accelerated. If you don't set MySpeed to start on boot-up, you'll need to open it each session. After that, it'll run in the background from the system tray.

MySpeed is an amusing, sometimes time-saving utility for YouTube and sources of Flash video. However, for the $30 post-trial asking price for the Windows app, it's clearly aimed at very frequent video watchers, especially e-learners who may want to breeze by some sections of a module and stroll through other, more technical segments.

Rarely worked on Mac OSX.

When/if it worked I used it occasionally.
Cons
Browser updates often broke this Paid software. Bought it for Mountain Lion and now they want me to buy it again if I upgrade to Mavericks. I won't be doing that.

Pros
-Does exactly what it claims to, practically invisible, allows me to study from online lectures ~30% faster, without losing details. -Excellent customer service--fixed a mistake I made on a Saturday night via cell phone.
Cons
-Pricey, be sure to google for a coupon code, and still expect to pay at least $20.
Summary
This application allows you to speed up and slow down browser-based video. Great for watching lectures from home, e-learning, and probably catching up on slow TV shows.

Pros
Works only during the trial. You can't renew the trial period once it expires, you have to buy the program.
Cons
After the trial period expires, the program freezes up, and hogs the CPU to the point where my laptop becomes unresponsive and needs a reset.
Summary
I would rate it ZERO stars if I could.
Flat-out Didn't Work

Pros
"Promises" to allow you to alter playback speed of Flash-based video playback.
Cons
Didn't deliver on its promises. Lots of neat and useless controls, plus the freshly downloaded and instantly installed version already had to updates. Updates require registration.
Summary
The ability to control the playback speed of Flash-based streaming video is a neat concept and may have worked on an old version or an outdated operating system, however for Win7 Pro 32-bit with Firefox and Flash Payer 10.1.102.64, it was a nothing more than a nice system tray ornament and the auto Show/Hide feature never did hide the slider. The first edition of this program I read about was in 2000, and subsequent versions I read about were from 2008/2009. Now it's Jan 2011 and, for me, at least, this tool is flat-out useless, unless you are looking to take up more system resources and HDD space. I'm no rookie to Windows systems, install/ops/maintenance, and am at least an above average to expert user, so following tried and true testing methods, I can say it isn't my system that failed. This program simply didn't live up to its advertised expectation.

Pros
Great pitch correction for online videos. Awesome for shortening training over long software training videos and focussing on the salient points. Thank you Enounce!
Cons
For the money, nothing at all, although if I had to be pedantic I'd prefer more control over the plugin settings, but that's the geek in me :)
Summary
I love this software for watching tutorials for software like photoshop etc. It's great for zooming past the bits where the author says nothing of value. Highly recommended!

Pros
The product offers a unique technology that I've never really seen before, particularly at such a low price point! What's especially nice is that the user interface is extremely simple, and that it's browser-agnostic!
Cons
It would be nice to have more control over the plugin, e.g., enabling it only for certain browsers, certain websites, etc.
Summary
I could see this product serving a very useful need towards students and/or others who were using it to browse instructional videos, news programs, and other fixed-length content. It's far better than simply fast-forwarding because you have a chance to absorb and process content you might have otherwise just skipped.
Don't know how I lived without this product!

The slider bar appears automatically whenever Flash video is detected. I didn't realize how much time I was wasting and how SLOOOOWWWWLLLLY many videos run until I started using MySpeed.
Cons
Doesn't work with streaming video, although that's Adobe's problem.

I started using this for one of my online courses that required us to watch lectures. They were 3 hours long. MySpeed let me speed it up and it took less than 2 to get though it and still understand everything being said. I don't know if I could have watched the lectures without this. It minimizes to the tray to stay out of your way when you don't need it up. You can even turn it off so it doesn't interfere with other videos. The option to start playback at normal speed makes this ideal for going from video to video, or lecture to lecture in my case. I love this program. I'll definitely be keeping it for a long, long time.

I can speed up online training videos to double speed and faster and still understand everything. A huge time saving tool.
Cons
It works great with Flash media. If it only worked with every media player it would be even better.

I absolutely live and breathe MYSPEED. It is essential to getting all of my lectures watched! I can't live without it (ask the developers). Every time there is an update I haveeee to have it!
