This no-frills program provides a free, unrestricted way to rip CDs but doesn't offer much in the way of features. When we opened the utility prior to inserting a disc in our PC's CD-ROM drive, we couldn't get the application to recognize it and were forced to relaunch in order to get started. Happily, ripping tracks was a more pleasant affair, as the program quickly converted our test CDs to MP3, WAV, and OGG files. Since MpegWare CD Ripper simply does its main job and nothing else, the interface is a snap to use, although it's not much to look at. You can rip files at bit rates of your choice up to 320kbps, but the program doesn't support the space-efficient VBR scheme. Although this program is rather limited, folks looking for a free ripper will mostly find this one a satisfactory performer.

Developer’s Description

Extract digital audio tracks from CD to MP3, OGG, or WAV files.
MpegWare CD Ripper is easy-to-use CD-ripper software that extracts digital audio from CD to MP3, OGG, or WAV files. Extracted files can be automatically placed in separate folders for each CD, for example: C:\CD-001\, C:\CD-002\. Files can be named automatically in the standard format, artist name - song name, and audio tracks can be previewed with a built-in CD player. The application supports MP3 ID3v1 tag data.
