This one-trick pony makes normalizing MP3 and WAV files a blissfully easy affair, but the stingy trial restriction takes it down a few notches. Although MP3 Normalizer's main window isn't terribly exciting to look at, it is a snap to understand and operate, particularly because the application does only one thing. After you queue up tracks you wish to normalize, you then set the value according to how loud you want your new tunes to sound. When you click the Normalize button, the app quickly gets to work rendering your improved tracks. In our tests, the program showed decent speeds, normalizing a 10-song disc in less than four minutes. However, if you need to fix more than 10 tracks, you're out of luck, as that's where the trial version cuts off. It's also disappointing that the program doesn't support other popular audio codecs such as OGG. MP3 Normalizer seems ideal for beginners, but they'll probably have to pay to get any real use out of it.

Functional..sortof

Pros
I can honestly say that it did change the volume of at least one of the tracks I ran through it.
Cons
Though it did change the volume, it distorted the track horribly. The track in question went from CD quality to sounding like it was being played back to me through a tin can telephone. Disapointed does not begin to explain my feelings on this product.

Pros
Easy to use, if only it did anything.
Cons
On the demo, I tried two tracks from two CDs, one loud and the other low. I put together CDs for parties and noticed the low-volume track to be notoriously low. After normalizing the files using the software, I burned them to disk, and also burned a "before" control copy. I could tell no difference between the two. The low-volume track sounded the same on both test CDs.

After editing one mp3, I compared the result with it's original. No difference at all.

Like it says. I only did one track but it did improve the overall sound level about 20%. I dont know if it distorted the sound quality as the track was already somewhat fuzzy. Simple function and application.
