Used Mountain for Mac?
Editors’ Review
Mountain for Mac provides a new and comprehensive interface for mounting and unmounting drives, as well as providing more precise controls. It also demonstrates how your drives are being accessed by your active applications.
Pros
Ejecting and remounting: This is a very handy feature. You can eject drives from your system and then reconnect them whenever you want, without having to physically unplug the drive.
Drive grouping: If you work with a lot of external drives, then being able to group them together and mount or unmount them as a group can be a nice little time saver.
Handling active apps: We've all gotten the error message that a drive can't be ejected because an app is busy using it. Mountain will identify which programs are blocking your ejection and quit them, so you can eject drives seamlessly.
Cons
Narrow audience: Only a very small number of users in enterprise environments might actually derive a lot of use from this type of app.
Bottom Line
If you have to manage a huge number of volumes throughout the workday, then try Mountain. For most casual users, it provides a few neat features, like being able to eject and remount a drive without detaching any cabling, but probably won't add a huge amount of practical benefits to your ecosystem.
Editor's note: This is a review of the trial version of Mountain for Mac 1.5.3.
