Having to rename a bunch of files manually every time can be labor-intensive. With NameChanger for Mac, users can now rename their files quickly and easily in just a snap. While not too complicated for inexperienced users, this app will keep advanced users more than satisfied with the level of customization offered.

To install NameChanger for Mac you just have to drop the app into the Applications folder. Upon startup this application will greet you with a clean, tidy, and easy-to-navigate user interface. While the app has only one, pretty basic function, it is very useful. It replaces the original text of the file or folder with a new custom text. This is perfect for users who need to organize a bunch of files on their Mac. For example, a batch of photos, including DSC390003, DSC390004, and DSC390005 could be renamed London 03, London 04, and London 05. The app will show you a sample of the new file name in real time, which is very convenient. It also allows you to edit the date of the file created. However, there is no "undo" function, which would have been a welcome option.

Although all Macs come pre-installed with Automator, which basically performs the same function, there's just no comparison with NameChanger for Mac in terms of ease of use. Users who frequently need to rename files in bulk will find this app very useful.

I've used NameChanger app for Mac for several years to do bulk photo file renaming. It does that job well. I find it easy to use and it has never crashed while I've used it.

It doesn't appear in the drop down menu of files. Which means you have to open the app and add the files you want to the change list. It's isn't too annoying, but it's an extra step than my fav renamer for pc BulkRenameUtility.

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I downloaded this with a little trepidation - a few hundred downloads but no one had reviewed it. I also wondered how intuitive the tool would be. I needed to rename a few hundred files quickly., The download and install were simple. I dragged NameChanger to the applications folder and fired it up. I noticed it had spotlight integration, so I typed in the string I wanted to match. The list of files wanted appeared in the left side, so I selected all the ones I wanted, which was easy because they were correctly grouped. Then I typed in the string I wanted to replace on the left, the string I wanted on the right, and clicked the replace button. The replacement happened so fast I had to go check to see if all the files actually had changed. They had! I am pleased to give this product my highest recommendation for replacing file names. It took less time to rename hundreds of files than it did to write this review. The tool is smart, intuitive (didn't even need to search for instructions), well done! -Jim Gordon
