While some people hike for hours to reach the beauty of a mountain lake's shore, this screensaver brings that serene environment to your desktop. We found the three-dimensional image to be rendered quite well, and were particularly pleased by the quality of the water in the lake. An accompanying soundtrack heightens the mood. The software offers a number of settings, including the ability to configure the video effects so it will run on computers with low-end graphics cards. If desired, the program can also display the time. Unfortunately, the trial version displays a large registration reminder in the center of the screen after 30 seconds, breaking the mood. Nevertheless, those seeking tranquility on their desktop might do well to give Mountain Lake 3D Screensaver a try.
