• Saved the last 7 years of my work! Worth every penny!

  Pros

  Very user friendly interface. Simple to use, even for a layman. However, I've only used the partition recovery portion of the program. I scanned a corrupt drive, selected a destination for the obtainable data, and let it run overnight. The next morning, my data is back and I can breathe again!

  Cons

  None so far, other than the free version is limited to 1gb of recovery data. To remove the limitation, you must pay for the full version. Well worth the minor expense, when compared to the cost of a data recovery service that can cost upward of $2k. The recovered files are not an exact clone of the original drive, and requires some digging to recreate the original structure. It also captures previous versions of files that I didn't even realize existed. Although it does create some confusion and additional work to sort thru, it is inevitably a Pro - A newer version of a file may be corrupt, and a good earlier version allows you to piece your data back together. I'd rather be missing some minor aspects, than a full 7 years of work! (although i could have been better about running back-ups, I guess - live and learn, as they say).

  Summary

  This tool was a blessing for me (and my marriage)! I'm also glad I paid for the lifetime upgrade! I hope I never have to use this again, but I will always have it in my back pocket just in case! I lost 7 years of my work because of a bad flash drive. The program was able to recovery nearly 100% of it, less some minor corrupt portions. My wife was also thankful to be out less than $100, after being quoted $2,200 from a local data recovery service. Talking with several IT professionals, they advised doing research before investing in any data recovery software, as there are so many scams and programs with 'hooks'. This one is the REAL DEAL! Highly recommended for anyone trying to recover important data.

  After 4.5 hours of scanning, realized that only 1GB of data recovery is complimentary. $85 to upgrade and recover more.

  Recovered data with folders and file names intact

  Cons

  Paid $89 USD for personal license + bootable media + lifetime upgrade. Took all day for scan + recovery and no "estimated time left" but didn't really matter because if this didn't work I would have sent the external hard drive to a technician for hundreds of dollars and several days of anxious waiting to recover even half the data.

  Summary

  I probably accidentally formatted my NTFS external hard drive to FAT32 (full format) because I couldn't see any files in it. I first ran Recuva which didn't work, then thankfully I used MiniTool Power Data Recovery (Damaged Partition Recovery) and recovered the files with folders and file names intact (except for files with foreign names which got renamed to some gibberish but the contents were intact). I was very impressed.

  Cons? why yes, this "Free" edition is a con (as in con job). It aint free people, not even if you want to recover the limited 1GB of data.

  Summary

  Everything installs fine, but opening the program triggers an error message. However, you'll be sent to their webpage that says "Installation successful", but the instructions below say that to use the "Free" version, you need a registration code. But no registration code is provided to you unless you PAY for an upgrade. What a con job this download is !!! It's always about trying to get your money when these companies offer you a limited edition for "free". MiniTool Power Data Recovery Free Edition 7.0 is not free !!! And you can bet no past or future versions will be, either.
