• Waited to long for a IOS5 update, poor customer service

  Well it works if you use IOS4 or below. Transfers music seamlessly.

  Cons

  Updates are few and far between and no matter if you use the licensed version or trial customer services will NOT respond to any status updates regarding IOS5. This also happened when IOS4 was released and MGTEK was not compatible. The last update regarding IOS5 on the website is January 2012, we are now nearly 6 months on and no progress or customer information.

  Summary

  If MGTEK could sort out the customer service reponse attitude to update related questions and find a solution to IOS updates quicker then I would have given this product a minimum of 4 stars but alas, it's not to be!

  Summary

  I was excited for this. I used the trial and it was sort of hit and miss, for the above pros/cons, but overall worked. The often crashing, which would occur during batch deletions off the iPod or, say, if I tried to play a song in WMP while syncing, was something I figured tech support could remedy. I bought the full version of it...mind you, I spent $25 on this software, woo, thinking hey, here we go, no more crappy iTunes, a reliable replacement and I can use WMP. Well, no. I've been trying to sync for the last week. It only syncs for about 4 hours before crashing. Yes, it requires MUCH longer than 4 hours to sync. I have about 50 gb of music--NOT that much. It converts over 50% of my songs (and I know more than 50% of my songs are mp3 layer 2, or whatever format iPod likes) in order to put it on the ipod. It is extreeeeemely resource-intensive and can't handle running other processes within WMP or WMC while syncing. And did I mention how slow this thing is? Oh. My. God. This slowness is definitely increased by the fact that it will re-convert things for no apparent reason. A playlist on the iPod that is full and synced will show up as being re-synchronized and re-converted the next time I plug it in to sync. If a rating or something had changed, that would make sense to update the info on the device. But with or without it, seemingly at random, music keeps getting re-synced. And then, also seemingly at random, I find duplicate songs here and there. Plus, ratings on the iPod don't sync back to WMP, so there's no point in rating music as you play it on your device while mobile. As a matter of fact, there's not a lot of point in getting this software, as far as I'm concerned. Yes, I am pretty tech-savvy, have completely uninstalled/deleted reg/etc, reinstalled THREE TIMES, and no good. Tech support isn't exactly helpful, either. The only real benefit of this software is that it does a job nothing else really does, which provides an alternative to iTunes that runs right out of WMP, as a plugin. Unfortunately, my options seem to be #1 go back to iTunes, which I don't want to do and can't because of problems iTunes has with my system, #2 get rid of my iPod. #2 is looking likely at this point.

  Easy to use. Seamlessly integrates into Windows Media Player. You never have to use that aweful excuse of programming called iTunes again.

  No real criticisms.

  Summary

  I absolutely hate being told what programs I can and cannot use with something I own, but the iPod's design is so streamlined that it is hard to pass up the iPod hardware. There are very few mp3 players anymore, of quality, that allow you to do what you want. This program solves that issue and is incredibly easy to use. Once it was installed I was able to use my iPod as before but without having to use iTunes. Well worth the $19.95

  Pros

  Windows media player is so intuitive and simple to use and MGTEK makes it a killer app. by making it easier to synch your IPOD without the need of the clunky, awful ITUNES.

  Cons

  You never know that you downloaded MGTEK until you connect your IPOD to Windows Media Player but it is so simple to use. However, do not use ITUNES after that as it erases all of your MGTEK synched tunes on your IPOD. Also, after each transferred song, it reminds you that you have to pay the $19.95 user fee. Pay it, it is so worth it. Don't waste your time or money on any other software that pretends to transfer IPOD tunes.

  Does what it says it will do simply and with no fuss.

  Cons

  Works well but only timed trial. I won't spend more money on making this Ipod work. I will never buy apple again.
