• Good dictionary, but...

  Good basic medical dictionary. Especially helpful interface if learning or re-learning medical terminology.

  Tricky to install on Windows 7. This version cannot be purchased as shareware.

  Summary

  It's a good dictionary for this price. Unfortunately, it will not let you purchase it at the $19.99 price; you get error messages when you try, and when you go to Fogware's website for help, you learn that you have to buy the physical set... for $15 more including the shipping cost. I don't think it's worth that. I like Fogware's reference software and have bought other dictionaries at full price, but so far this seems too basic a medical dictionary for those bucks. The interface shows the a-to-z list of terms on one side and a blank definition screen until you double-click a word. This gives it a flashcard function, too. So dictionary + flashcards may well be worth $35 to you. Trying to install it on my netbook, which has Windows 7 Starter OS, was frustrating until I gave up on the setup.exe and started nosing around the other files. I don't remember which two files I clicked, but they worked. I'll probably cough up the $35 for it when my trial period runs out, but I won't be happy about it.
