• It's either inaccurate or a scam!

  Pros

  It's backup function works flawlessly.

  Cons

  I ran out of space far too quickly. I checked one folder on my HDD: 160 MB. On their server: 484 mb. This has been reported by others.

  Summary

  Others have reported the usage discrepancy. Yet it persists--which is why I added the "or scam" option to my One Line Summary. I suspect that they are deleting old versions, but still counting it as usage. Regardless, I uninstalled the thing because their 5 gb of free space does not relate to 5gb of space on my HDD, making their app quite uunusable.

  Pros

  None - The can be no pros when it doesn't even do its basic job.

  Cons

  Memopal is unable to count correctly how much data you have saved. Memopal is unable to upload data when it incorrectly say you quota is full. Even if Memopal thinks your quota is not full, Memopal often stops you from uploading data because it thinks the data is already uploaded. You will be unable to retrieve data because Memopal thinks it you have deleted it. Their support is extremely unhelpful. Memopal have acknowledged I am correct in what I have said, but have so far done nothing to fix it. I had to spend many hours and many emails proving what I knew was true. The just said it couldn't be true. They now admit there is a problem but don't seem concerned about fixing it.

  Pros

  Solid client, effective, security is hig (storage backed around the world) multi language interface, relatively fast uploading, dont take too much ressource, software seem stable and reliable. Very good (ticket)service by email, coopertive support.

  Cons

  Interface is so so, some confirguration options could e clearer, website storage interface is dull (you must dif into leayers of folders)(andi interface is dull

  I really love this backup solution, they are effective adn reliable. Software seem very reliable (event the beta version) event is interface is a little out-fashion. Secuity seema strong. By the ways this is the Eupean brother company of Californa's Safecopy (same software and policy).

• Memopal is slow to upload

  Pros

  Memopal software is easy to load

  Cons

  Memopal was very slow to upload. I uploaded continuously for 2 months and only 1/2 my files got uploaded. I would check my uploading and often their server was down and nothing was uploaded. I finally gave up but they would not refund my money.

  Cheaper than some others with special offer.

  VERY slow Crashes and wants to be reinstalled Won't allow same-same backups of Excel unless backup is suspended Tech support -- do they speak any English?

  Summary

  DISAPPOINTING. Excel files (2007 version) can't be saved with the same name when memopal is running and their techs a clueless about a work-around. It also has been a FULL WEEK now that it's backing up -- a week?! (Fortunately, I also back up daily on two external hard drives.) I'm on cable, not dial-up, and we're talking about maybe 32GB. It also seriously slows down the computer, using a bigger chunk of memory than even the graphics programs. Lately, it seems to just stop and requires that I then reinstall it. Good grief. I REGRET THE DAY I SIGNED UP. There must be better options!

• Backs up files but restoring and support are problems

  Pros

  Backup works well. Can backup more than one computer File sharing and remote access to files seems to work fine. Price seems reasonable.

  Cons

  WebDAV to restore files is slow and doesn't work on all my computers. I have made mutiple attempts by phone and email to reach tech support and have not received any replies.

  Summary

  A couple of months I would have highly recommended Memopal. It seemed to do backups well. I loved being able to back up 3 computers, share specific files with others, and access all my files remotely. But when I had a hard drive failure and began to try to restore my files, I found the WebDAV access slow. It eventually quit working altogether. I've repeatedly emailed and called Memopal. I get no response to the emails and I only get voice mail when I call them. I've had no responses. I'm now trying to restore thousands of files one at a time through their web interface (can't do a restore or download directories) I'll be cancelling my account the second I can get my most crucial data back.

• MemoPay Not Yet Ready To Be a Player

  Pros

  Backup process in background, does not interfere with other things you are doing. Also, multiple versions of files are maintained up to the point where all space is filled up.

  Cons

  NO user manual or other documentation. My Outlook.pst file (most important to me) will not backup. Outlook app must be closed? Even when app closed, after 21 attempts, the file does not backup. After the 21st, MemoPal quits trying to backup.

  Summary

  This is the first time I have used any backup service, so I have no other benchmarks to compare to. However, I think that a basic user manual/guide is really needed. For instance, it may be obvious to some people, but I would like to know whether an application needs to be closed in order to backup the related files. Also, there is no guidance provided as to the number or type of characters to be used in a password--I guessed wrong and had to contact support to find out that special characters are not allowed and that there is a limit of 50 characters. MemoPal has told me that they are working on a user manual. The product does not work for me to backup my most important file--Outlook contacts, email, calendar, etc.

  I love it as it is full automatic, You set it once and then anything is done by itself. In using it I discovered some usefull features: versionig, large file sharing and so on...

  Pros

  I downloaded the trial, after few minutes I decided to buy it. Ahead of my expectations.<p>I really appreciate right-click file sharing. I cleaned up my PC deleting old stuff, they do not get deleted from Memopal.

  Cons

  if you have many Gb of data it may take weeks for the first sync, but it has some kind of ranking so important files get saved first and immediately available.
