• Trade iTunes bloat for Mediamonkey bugs

  Pros

  It's certainly not as bloated as iTunes and much easier to tag and manage your music.

  Cons

  There has not been one time when I've had it running for a long period of time [an hour or so] where it does not freeze up or have some sort of error. This is regardless of which laptop or desktop I use. While MM has a lot of skins iTunes cleaner interface is slightly preferable. I prefer iTunes when it comes to podcasts but that's not a deal killer.

  Summary

  It's a half step up from iTunes in some ways but still looking for a better software application for music.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Jan 16, 2018<p/>It's a half step up from iTunes in some ways but it's instability isn't worth the $24.95. • Installed Amazon Search Assistant Distromatic malware

  Cons

  Doesn't do automatic level equalization so one song will be quiet, and then the next will blast your head off. Silently installs malware - Distromatic which serves ads, and an Amazon Search Assistant. No mention of either of these in any screen

  Summary

  Avoid this one unless you like invasive ads and malware.

• Useful tool but a maddening rip interface

  Cons

  The CD-ripping interface is maddening if you need to customise track names. One slip, for example inadvertently press the down arrow when the main file-naming input control is selected, and you lose every customisation you put in, you have to start over. And, the fonts are way too small for all but the very best eyes.

  Useful tool but the UI needs work.

  I have been using MM for or over ten years. I upgraded to Gold because I now rely on it for parties, Karaoke etc..

• iffy performance

  Pros

  With the addition of a $10 code pack, this program will convert anything and t handles tags with cool efficiency.

  Cons

  Poor graphics handling. Frequent crashes which occasionally take down my system (Win7, AMD Phenom II X6 1090T and 1055T Six cores, 6 GB).

  Summary

  I've owned a copy of MediaMonkey for over 5 years. The graphics and performance are hardly with the C$40+ paid for it in 2011. I'm trying to find other software which can perform the same functions as I'm fed up with their inability to fix the problems I've been reporting since they started. :(

• The best in the world of mediaplayers

  Pros

  I love the way the auto DJ works. There is more than one way to create your own play lists. Files can be added or removed from the playlist after it has been saved. There is also an auto playlist generator, you can specify the genre, rating, artist and so on to create the auto playlist as well as the length. A large number of skins to choose from which include a micro player using very little space on the task bar. There is also an auto DJ function which selects tracks at random from the library. There is also a number of other useful functions such as podcasts, audio books and so on.

  Cons

  I have not experienced any hassles with Media Monkey.

  Pros

  Fast rip and burn times. Excellent cataloging and referencing. Easy to use- very intuitive. Does a great job with any audio. Very complete and helpful online Help files; I have always been able to find an answer to my questions.

  Cons

  Ripping audiobooks sometimes requires going in to edit the properties. This can be a little tricky the first few times. If the recording is not recognized by the database MediaMonkey uses you need to go in and manually enter the titles, artists, etc. This is tedious BUT it does not happen very often.

  Summary

  I highly recommend this program. MediaMonkey is fast, easy to use, with exceptional cataloging. Ecxellent clarity. I would give it at least 8 stars if I could.

• FAR superior to iTunes

  Pros

  Easy to install, quick to load, very logical and easy to use, can manage my iPod Shuffle using it with no problems. I am left with only one question: WHY did I suffer iTunes for so long?

  Cons

  After using the regularly malfunctioning, bloated, unintuitive, cumbersome, horrendously slow iTunes for years thinking there was no alternative which I could use along with my iPod Shuffle - Mediamonkey presents NO negatives whatsoever.

  Summary

  Works like a dream. (I use Windows 7.)
