This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br /><p>This screensaver is actually a worthwhile screensaver, because of how it operates. It is <em>actually</em> reminiscent of ascii art--not the one-bit type, but the type where it uses shades of gray to produce a life-like picture. Considering this was an import from the PC version, and it produces everything like the PC version, it does everything it is supposed to do.</p>
<br>
<p>Honestly, I feel that this screensaver is around a four-star rating, however, since there were skript kiddies who probably had some corrupt pref files on their computer messing with the configuration (<em>hint hint kiddies: <b>trash the files in your prefs every now and then...they can become corrupt, you nitwits</b></em>), or haven't cleaned out their system cache since they got their computer, I'm balancing it out with a five-star rating.</p>
<br>
<p>Is it worth the download? <em>Yes</em></p>
<br>
<p>Could it use some improvement? <em>Yes, but then again, what program doesn't ever have room to approve?</em></p>

Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />After seeing the howls of pain and protest hurled this way by the previous three reviewers, I had to take a peek and see if 'Matrix Reloaded GL' really was that bad.
Initial results were pretty dull (I didn't get beyond the Russian opensource site namechecked when the screensaver starts up) and yes, a bit rough-looking, and sluggish, too, on my dual monitor setup. I moved on to other things with the feeling that this saver wouldn't be hanging around in my library folder for too long.
But then I nipped off to make a fresh cuppa, and when I got back there was a pleasing arrangement that showed Trinity pouting on my left hand screen while Smith leered at her from the right. It looked kinda cool from across the room.
The lack of configuration options is not a major issue (this is, after all, just a screen saver, and a free one at that), and if it was just a little smoother and faster, I'd be happy to give it more than a 'neutral' three stars for doing what it does.

Not to be confused with MatrixGL by Science Productions. Of course you realise the similarity ends with the name when you active the screensaver. No configuration possible. The type quality reminds me of that harsh bitmapping you get onscreen when your screenfont isn't present when using PostScript fonts. And we all know how crap THAT looks.. Back to the drawing board.
