• Much improved Mailtraq - now fully mature

  Pros

  Note: these comments refer to a different version 2.6.5.1774 <p>Revisiting email servers for a new 230-user installation I am really glad I came back to look at Mailtraq again. It has obviously matured a lot recently. I particularly like the SMTP security options and the great webmail. <p> <p>Having a Bayesian antispam engine included in the price was the deciding factor for me. I found it set up easily and has been more effective than anything else we've used (and I've tried just about it all). <p> <p>I too found their Support team really helpful. <p> <p>It has been rock solid for us so far. Glad I made this choice and would recommend it to anyone - certainly best value as far as I am concerned.

  Cons

  The program only backs up the Configuration from within the system. To be fair, the backup routine is detailed on their website but it would be nicer as an internal feature. <p>Not sure if this is a 'con' or not. Doesn't come bundled with an a-v system but they integrate with a number of big name suppliers. At least you can see what you are getting.

  Pros

  Unlike another reviewer, I love this program (been using it for three years now) and have certainly never lost a message. For anti-virus I use AVG, which it supports nicely. It also supports several others though -- maybe my version is more up to date. Also the only mail server I have seen that supports SPF and counters dictionary attacks and other spam tricks. <p> <p>Most importantly: very good and responsive telephone support. I don't often see that these days.

  Cons

  Remote administration needs to be updated. Mobile WebMail only supports browser-like devices (e.g. Treo) not WAP.

  Pros

  Simple to use, quick to install, has all the features you would want on a small business network

  Cons

  Unstable, regularly loses settings and emails, not compatible with most anti-virus software, only something called AVS. Back-up does not work and anti-spam pretty much useless. I should know I've been using it for 2 years!
