• Finally something that works and is FREE!

  After trying lots of programs on here - this is the only one that worked and was free. After having a corrupt email in Outlook Express 6 make a whole folder look empty (though the dbx file still had contents) I finally used this to open the file, extract all 2,630 emails to a folder - and then all I had to do was create a new folder in OE6 and drag all the new .eml files into it! Easy! Thank you!<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Jan 11, 2011<p/>I thought this product did the job, but it turned out it only recovered 480 of my emails from a DBX folder - whereas another free program recovered 1695 emails. This program is easier to use than that though, so probably worth a try for a novice user as it may do the job for you.

  Ease of use. It works great. Processed a huge file quickly. And the best of all, it is FREE.

  No problems. Certainly some of the emails were too corrupted to be recovered, but only a few.

  Summary

  I had a massive INBOX.DBX file that got corrupted. I lost everything. I searched everywhere for a free program. (I'm unemployed right now, and on a tight budget.) This program found 4,062 email messages in this corrupted file, and it was able to recover 4,031 messages. I was elated! THANKS! Nice interface, easy to use. I had moved the corrupted file to another directory, and so I was working from a copy just in case something went wrong. In the future, I will refrain from allowing my INBOX folder from getting that large. I would estimate about 1% of the recovered emails show signs of corruption, but the rest are clean. My operating system is XP, and using Outlook Express (Ver.6).

  -Stand alone .exe (runs from flash drive) -High recovery rate -Simple to use -Yaaaay Freeware! :-)

  Summary

  This is a great tool for those times when all your mail disappears for no apparent reason (well, that's what the user said - lol). It recovered a few thousand more emails than another (Shareware) program that was tried on the same system, and did so in a reasonably fast time. The stand alone .exe is a big improvement over some that want to be installed - the last thing you want to do when recovering data is start installing software on the effected machine! My only complaint is that email could only be recovered (saved) one at a time, or everything all at once - so I had to recover all of about 18,000 emails, then search through the saved files, in order to get the 200 or so from one two-month period that I needed to restore. All in all though, it did what it said it would do, and did it fast and easily, with no confusing technical options or dialogues to frighten a novice.
