• Beware of latest version. Buggy, no technical support.

  Pros

  - Easy to install and use. - Converts fine for bitrates 56k and higher. - New UI since version 2.0 is superior to previous versions.

  Cons

  - Converted files do not work in older MP3 players (see bitrate issue in next note). - Bitrates below 56k do not work. All pre-configured profiles use either 56k or 64k bitrates. But if you use a custom profile, and choose any bitrate lower than 56k, the setting is ignored and the converted file is created using 56k. (Choosing a bitrate of 56k or higher works ok.) - No technical support. Supposedly, there is an email where you can send requests for assistance, but I have sent several and received no reply since June 2014.

  Summary

  I've used this product successfully for many years, and I was a satisfied customer until the update to version 2.0 (and now 2.0.3). My car's older MP3 player only plays files that use a bitrate of 32k. Since Macsome's upgrade, the software has unfortunately become useless to me. The lack of technical support is the real issue here. I'm sure this problem is fixable, but if they won't fix the issue, or even acknowledge that they are working on it, then I can't have any trust or faith in the company or their software. If you have only newer MP3 players, or if bitrates don't matter to you, then you will probably find this product acceptable. But there are other software solutions out there at the same price or cheaper, so my advice is to look elsewhere.
