  When it worked it was simple and easy to use

  Won't let you use any language other than Italian now.

  Summary

  This simple, elegant network exploration program has been totally hosed by the authors, in pursuit of a new product called Fingbo. Too bad. Look@Lan was simple and easy to use, all you really needed for a home network. Fingbo is worse than useless.

  Free, good interface, easy to install on XP

  Cons

  But I can not install it on on Windows 7 and Windows 8. So I recommend to use others free network monitors e.g. EasyNetMonitor or Zabbix.

  Have't tested yet on wired LAN

  Cons

  Tried to scan Lan from Computer connected by wifi and got 0 results. there are actually 4 devices connected to network responding to ping. :-(. Will look for alternatives.

  Installation kinda flaky, and it doesn't let you drill into devices in Windwos 7. Locks up entire machine. For what it does and what you pay for it (nothing!), it's awesome...

  Contains Adware or Malware - My security program detected PUP.CNET.Adware.Bundle which means that Cnet is not so clean

  Install it at your own risk and scan it with an antivirus or anti malware program

  Easy to install, easy to use, does what it's supposed to.

  Cons

  It would have been nice to have side-by-side bar graphs of LAN activity for selected IPs, but it would be nice to win the lottery too!

  Summary

  I was looking for a small, easy to use program to monitor the activity on my home LAN. This does the job quite well for me. It has many more features than I will ever need, but they don't get in the way for a simple use. If you need more power, it's there for you when you do. Well done piece of software. And this version is free. Sophistocated users will surely want to investigate the retail versions of the newer product line.

  The Cnet message that stated it was free of malware was wrong.
