  Can't wait to have an excuse to mess with it.Summer inthe high country is my busiest time of the year. I make a chance to make more use of it's features.

• The Best & most light weight screenshot tool Ever!

  Pros

  This is the most light weight screenshot program I've ever used. I have no guilt about having it autostart with my computer. Using it is a breeze. You press [print], choose where to save the screen shot, and Done. Easy, small, exactly what you want.

  It has no other features aside from shooting screenshot's

  Pros

  Two great things for a free tool to include: 1) Allows capture of a user-selected screen area, not just a window or a full screen. 2) There's a portable version.

  Cons

  No option to include the mouse pointer in the screen captures. No cool picture editing tools.

  Summary

  I use the PortableApps version of Lightscreen on a USB thumb drive as one of my standard support tools. I can take screen shots of any system I'm working on without needing to install software. This has completely replaced Snagit for me. I do miss a couple of the advanced features available in the Snagit product, though. There are times when I'm making a manual or taking screen shots for presentations/training sessions when I want the mouse pointer in the shot. With this tool, that is something I can't have. There are also no built-in picture editing or effect tools. Not a big deal; all that means is that I have to open the image in an image editor and mark it up there.

  Pros

  Choice of file types to save in, I can choose where I want the captures saved, if I do several it automatically numbers them, and it uses my preferred configuration each time without me having to reset it.

  Cons

  Would be nice if there was the option of it playing a sound each time you do a capture, just a little "ping" would do. In the absence of this, I've set the option to display a message each time.

  Summary

  Needed this because I'm one of many people whose printscreen doesn't work. Installed Lightscreen to replace HoverSnap, which only saves in My Docs and only does one at a time, a 2nd one overwrites the first one, so if you want several you have to go into My Docs and rename each one individually as you go.<br /><br /><span class='notifyMsg'> Updated </span>on Dec 9, 2009<p/>I was wrong about HoverSnap, I had never configured it properly, you can save where you want &#38; it can do more than 1 at a time, so basically there's not a great deal to choose between that &#38; Lightscreen. One theing I've noticed about Lightscreen is it appears to put a faint red border around my captures, which i don't like.

• Simple, but effective program!

  Pros

  Very easy to use program! Just click the print screen button, and you're off! You can even specify where you want all of your recorded pictures to go, so you won't have to choose a directory every time.

  Cons

  I haven't really found anything bad about this program. The only reason I might not use it, is because you can capture your screen by pressing Ctrl + prt scr (button above Ins).

  Summary

  Very quick to use program! Very handy if your keyboard's button is broken.

  Pros

  just press the control and print screen key and you have your document as jpeg. continous pressing of these keys you will capture the sequence of events you are witnessing.

  Cons

  it permanently resides in your programs folder, you can't uninstall it.
