cross-checks iTunes library for unlisted files in iTunes
iTunes Library Check cross checks your iTunes Library for unlisted files in iTunes. It scans the iTunes music library and checks if the found files are referenced in iTunes xml file. All unreferenced files are listed in the "Extra files" tab view and all references that lacks actual files are listed under the "Missing files" tab view.
1) Runs quickly
2) Only has two buttons, the first one is 'Start'
Cons
Does not appear to offer any useful function or value whatsoever because it appears to give apparently fundementally eroneous output.
Summary
WOuld have given the product '0 Stars' if that was an option because it simply does not work.
1) Appears to simply list every file in the iTunes library as being 'Missing' (despite the fact that they DO exist rather than reporting missing files as the software pupports to list)
2) Cannot copy data lines (list) that it produces therefore cannot analyse them
3) Cannot delete the entries in iTunes that are supposedly dupicates
4) Lists the itunes library itself as an 'Extra File' and inexplicably offers the option to delete the iTunes Library (that is the 'second' button) what a tragically useless product.
Great!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />Scanning my AAC library in the default location did a fantastic job. It found both missing files and Extra files which I fixed.
However, scanning a second library in which the Apple Lossless files are stored on an external drive cause several (but not all) incorrect reports in the missing and extra sections.
FYI: I use iTunes Library Manager to switch libraries so when I switched to the Lossless library the XML file should (and does) align with the correct folder of files. Therefore, I suspect it failed because the files are on an external drive, but then again that's just a guess.
I'm really impressed and pleased with this software. I'd be happy to pay for it if the developer decides to fix this issue and add options such as moving the extra files to the trash, printing a list of the missing files, etc.
Great software, and and excellent start! Many thanks!
Holy wow

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.<br />I just saw this and immediately downloaded it and tried it out without my normal research.
As someone who has been using essentially the same iTunes directory copied over from machine to machine and gone though this than and the other thing since Mac OS 9 I've had tons of problems with extra files, missing files and multiple entries linked to the same physical file.
This program instantly fixes two of the problems with no fuss no muss and really no extra features.
It's not fancy but it does something I am surprised no one has done before (that I know of).
Now to find the donation link and suggest that third feature.
5 stars for doing everything it says it does cleanly and nothing more
