Ircle is a Macintosh program to use IRC (Internet Relay Chat). IRC enables you to talk with typed messages, in realtime, to other Internet users around the world. IRC is organized in channels on a specific topic. You can also talk privately with someone. On average there are thousands of users and channels on the big IRC networks.

Used to be good...

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This used to be the best IRC client for the Mac years ago...nowadays there are several other options for the average user -- like Snak or Conversation (which is free)...!

Both have a better user interface and are easier to use while still offering more than enough options for most IRC users...
good functionality, bad interface

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
i used ircle for a long time. but i think it is not longer uptodate. With the introduction of MacOS X and the further development, a lot of new technologies and features made it into the operating system. But when i have a look at Ircle, I do really miss the intergration of these new functionality. And Ircle is missing not only this... but also an interface capable of providing an easy way of using it. Previous reviews indicate that Snak is handling it better... but from my point of view, the best inteface currently available is the one of Colloquy. It is not is OpenSource nature which is fascinating me, but its perfect mix of functionality and usability. Therefore I would recommend that the developers should have a look into new frameworks and probably should look at other great OSX tools and imitate part of their style ;)
Kinda bloated

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Well, file size is irrelevant. 1.5/3/3.8MB. who cares. It's the "feel" of the application. There's a profusion of obscure settings, crammed into something like what 15-20 preference panels ? Ircle is also overflowing with tiny little windows. If you actually start using the various features you'll end up with a multitude of floating windows cluttering your screen. Of course you can limit yourself to not actually using much of the program to get by with just a few windows. One area that's unfortunately not bloated is the documentation. There is none. In contrast, Snak has the docking channels where multiple channels go in one window. It also collects all of the little lists in one window even though you can drag the tabs out into separate windows if you really want. Also as a contrast, the Snak documentation is very comprehensive. Occasionally I try other clients but so far I've always returned to Snak.
Ircle rules!

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Bloatware? You've got to be kidding. X-Chat Aqua clocks in at 3 MB and MacIrssi is a gut busting 3.8 MB while Ircle is a svelte 1.5 MB.
Ircle is a solid, proven irc client with a great set of features and is worth the buy. If you only get 1 client this year, this is the one to get!
Keep up the great work Onno!
as always, bloatware

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
don't believe the reviews posted below, they are probably made-up. The truth? DCC still doesn't work, it crashes when chatting on different channels and the worst part : the developer is an ar$e.
Their are much better apps available for the mac. Avoid this crapware at all cost!
Been using it since 97
