Renaming multiple files in a folder is a breeze with this program, though it inconveniently holds true to its name. Group Files Rename requires .NET Framework 1.1 to run and provides a quick link to its download after installation. The program lists all of its renaming options on its mundane main window, making it rather crowded. After selecting a folder and choosing a renaming option whether it is to delete or insert characters, make filenames all caps, or to tag them with the date, you'll be able to preview the new names before implementing any real changes. Group Files Rename quickly alters the filenames within the specified folder, though the trial only changes 10 names. Its filter feature is handy for only pulling out and modifying files of a particular extension. As its moniker states, Group Files Rename only supports group name changes so all files in the folder or filter category will be renamed. We also aren't able to make simultaneous changes since the application can only make one executable change at a time. An undo button to quickly reverse changes isn't provided either. Though its drawbacks are significant, this one is useful for anyone looking to alter filenames in batches.
